A sharpshooting 6-1 guard with a quick release off the catch and great off-ball movement, Aguirre showed some more ability to create plays off the dribble than we’ve seen when we’ve watched him previously, a nice step in his development. He played really well in Ankeny’s semifinal loss to Kennedy, scoring 18 points on 6-12 shooting (4-9 3P).
2026 PG Jude Gibson Jude Gibson 6'0" | PG Ballard | 2026 State IA (Ballard)
Gibson already has a pretty lofty rankings in the 2026 class, but in his debut at the state tournament he made another strong impression with his ability to create for his teammates off the dribble, showcasing great court vision and passing skills. He didn’t shoot it well (just 3-12), but he dished out 12 assists and had no turnovers against an Assumption defense that proved to be excellent throughout the week.
2026 SG Jack McGuire Jack McGuire 6'5" | SF Pella | 2026 State IA (Pella)
McGuire had a solid all-around game in the Dutch’s loss to Waverly-Shell Rock, going for 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. A 6-4 playmaker who handles it well and can create off the dribble, he has the size, length, and understanding of the game to be an intriguing prospect to watch over the next few years.
2026 SF Austin Schulte Austin Schulte 6'2" | SF Pella | 2026 State IA (Pella)
A 6-2 wing who contributes across the board, Schulte had 9 points and 7 rebounds in the Dutch’s loss to WSR, showing the ability to shoot it off the catch, put it on the floor and get to the rim, and pound the glass on both ends of the floor.
2026 PG Alec Lovely Alec Lovely 5'11" | PG Treynor | 2026 State IA (Treynor)
A quick, high IQ 5-11 guard who is oozing with confidence, Lovely had a huge quarterfinal showing against West Burlington, scoring 22 points on 9-13 shooting in the win. He handles the ball really well and shoots it at a high level off the catch, but he’s also a really skilled playmaker who sees the floor well and can create for himself and his teammates off the bounce.
2026 PG Dylan Bosma Dylan Bosma 6'1" | PG Unity Christian | 2026 State IA (Unity Christian)
A pair of Unity Christian guards burst out during the Knights’ quarterfinal win over Underwood, and Bosma, the 6-1 guard, was one of them. A quick guard who can score from all three levels, he had 25 points on 9-17 shooting, including going 5-10 from behind the arc, in that win. He’s a good athlete who embraces contact around the rim, can defend multiple positions, and knock down shots, he’ll have a pretty strong debut in the 2026 rankings when they are updated next month.
2026 SG Austin Wieringa Austin Wieringa 6'0" | SG Unity Christian | 2026 State IA (Unity Christian)
Another UC guard who will make a nice debut in the 2026 rankings is Wieringa (pictured), a 6-2 guard who thrives when he’s playing downhill and attacking the rim. Like Bosma, he embraces contact around the rim, and he does a good job finishing through it. He’s really good on the glass and can create plays for his teammates off the dribble. He had 21 points and 14 rebounds in that aforementioned win over Underwood.
2027 PF Tyce Van Donge Tyce Van Donge 6'2" | PF Unity Christian | 2027 State IA (Unity Christian)
A third UC player who made a major impact last week, Van Donge is an undersized but athletic and physical forward who finishes really well around the rim. He showed good touch and footwork, as well as the ability to create off the dribble on touches from the high post area. He has great hands and does a good job making strong contact on his boxouts. In the Knights’ narrow semifinal loss to Hudson, he came off the bench to score 24 points and grab 10 rebounds.
2027 SF Landon Blum Landon Blum 6'5" | SG Woodbine | 2027 State IA (Woodbine)
Blum is one of the best athletes in the state in the 2027 class, already named an All-State receiver as a freshman. A 6-5 wing who showed that he can stretch the floor with a quick, clean release off the catch, Blum had 23 points on 8-15 shooting, including going 7-11 from behind the arc, in Woodbine’s loss to North Linn. He showed some ability to create off the dribble, defend multiple positions, and if the shooting proves to be for real, he may become a highly regarded prospect tucked down in tiny Woodbine, population 1,622 as of 2021.
