Maysville won the hearts of Ohio high school basketball fans and Bobb was the engine of their impressive 3-point bombing offense. An elite shot creator, Bobb has a quick first step and is capable of pulling up anywhere within 30 feet. His scoring numbers speak for themselves, one of the top marks in the state at an efficient clip. After Hayden Jarrett set the school record for scoring last season, Bobb broke it the next year as Maysville is a program that’s on the rise in the tough MVL. If Bobb is looking to play at the next level, he certainly has the talent to play at the scholarship level. Would be a priority recruit for any regional Division III programs as well.
One of the most productive forwards in Ohio’s 2024 class, Register put up monster numbers the past couple seasons for Eastlake North. A bully-ball forward who wants to use his frame to create contact and finish at the rim, Register is a load to slow down in the paint. With soft touch at the rim and even stretching out to the mid-range, Register is a guy who can score it from the block, facing up or on the pick and pop game. Another prospect who could make an impact at the scholarship radars, it’ll be interesting to see which program picks up a commitment from Register.
One of the top small-town athletes in Ohio, Barrino was the driving force behind the lone unbeaten in the entire state at Malvern. An elite defender who caused a ton of turnovers, Barrino gave offensive players problems with his ball pressure and ability to jump passing lanes. Best offensively in the open court, Barrino turned defense into offense numerous times each game to get easy looks on the fast break. A tier above his conference’s competition as an athlete, Barrino was able to get into the lane whenever he wanted off the dribble. Going up to the college level, it’ll be interesting to track Barrino’s ability to get place off the bounce when the athletic gap shrinks. Developing a jump-shot would take his game to another level and gives him more upside than anybody else mentioned in this article.

The conference player of the year in the NLL, Hill is another one of the top athletes in Ohio. Starring on the gridiron and the hardwood, Hill is one of the most natural movers on the basketball court from Ohio. An elite athlete with burst, explosiveness and change of speed, Hill is a nightmare to defend in the open court and stay in front of. A capable shooter from the outside, Hill had flashes where he made shots from the outside this season off the catch and bounce. If he chooses basketball at the next level, he still needs development in the half-court as a decision maker but took strides for a Findlay program that runs a high-level half-court offense. I’m very high on the long-term potential of Hill and would buy stock in him at either sport he picks to play at the next level.
Berlin Hiland, against all odds, made it back to the Division IV state title game this season with Detweiler leading the charge. A point guard who is a high level shooter and leader, I was impressed with how Detweiler led his team to multiple playoff comebacks despite the Hawks being down multiple starters due to injury. With his shot-making, play-making and defensive ability, Detweiler separates himself from a lot of other point guards who impact the game in less areas than he does. A kid who has shown the ability to impact winning, take care of the basketball and makes shots? Sounds like a perfect target for small college programs if Detweiler has the interest of continuing his career at the next level.
