As has become customary for Register over the course of his post-grad year at SPIRE, the rugged lefty went for a tough and productive outing, despite coming in a narrow loss. He showed his ability to step away from the rim as a shooter, but really helped get his team back in the game using his blend of skill and physicality to assert himself inside. Still new to focusing full-time on basketball and with limited high-level experience, Register shows a really impressive natural feel to go with an unwavering competitive spirit. Even in the era of transfer portal recruiting, it’s a wonder he’s still without a D1 offer.

Register has continued to be productive during this post-grad year for Spire as his scoring and rebounding production has translated from the high school level. A majority of Register’s points today came off second chance points as he outmuscled opposing forwards numerous times in the paint. In the second half Register started getting some isolation opportunities where he took forwards off the dribble from the top of the key and Spire spaced the defense out to give him open lanes to attack and finish. Register has taken this post grad year to improve his body and continue to show his production Vs tougher competition.

Spire came out focused on Sunday and absolutely demolished Flyght Academy in a game that was uncompetitive from the jump. I was very impressed with Spire’s ability to keep their foot on the gas pedal all game and continue to execute on both ends of the court. Register was one of their leading scorers as his teammates did a nice job of finding him open to shoot efficient shots. Knocking down a couple spot-up 3-pointers, Register has shown some shooting development in the past few months as he works to expand his range. Combine that with his size and physicality in the paint and Register was productive in a blowout win.

The lone Ohio native on Spire’s national team, Register decided to take a post-grad year at the nearby prep program. For Register, getting to play against talented competition with more talented teammates should allow college programs to better evaluate him after he put up monster numbers in high school. He looked a little slimmer and developing his body is a key for him during this post grad season.

One of the most productive forwards in Ohio’s 2024 class, Register put up monster numbers the past couple seasons for Eastlake North. A bully-ball forward who wants to use his frame to create contact and finish at the rim, Register is a load to slow down in the paint. With soft touch at the rim and even stretching out to the mid-range, Register is a guy who can score it from the block, facing up or on the pick and pop game. Another prospect who could make an impact at the scholarship radars, it’ll be interesting to see which program picks up a commitment from Register.

This was actually my first chance to see Register in person, after being one of the top scorers in northeast Ohio the past two season, I saw his last career high school game. A load to handle in the paint, Register has the body and size to move you in the paint when backing you down. A decent vertical athlete for his size, Register had a couple open dunks when the high pressure Mentor defense left the paint wide open. Finally, Register showed touch with a few 15-18 foot jumpers off the bounce and catch. Easy to see why he dominates his conference and averaged almost 30 PPG this season, Register will make his debut in our final 2024 rankings update that comes immediately after the OHSAA state championship weekend.
