Wednesday night I went to D1 District Semifinals games at Central Crossing as Hilliard Bradley beat Olentangy Liberty 57-37 and Olentangy Orange beat Columbus South 67-53. On Thursday night I went to D3 District Final games at Ohio Dominican as Worthington Christain beat Columbus Academy 60-47 and an instant classic as Harvest Prep got the win 62-61 over Africentric. This article will cover the top underclassmen from these games.
Mirgon is one of the only non-seniors to play for this Hilliard Bradley team but you would not be able to tell by the play on the court. His ability to play the game and his maturity always impresses me every time I see him play. He is a really good point guard but the ball does not stick in his hands. He keeps it moving and makes good passes. He hit two big-time back-to-back 3s in the third quarter. He missed a lot of the season due to an injury but seems to have found his role with his team for the tournament run.
Davis seems to be getting confident in his scoring ability right now. He always did the dirty work and little things well and still does. He makes great hustle plays on both ends of the floor. His athleticism and length allow him to be a great defender who can guard anyone. He is a good rebounder and is always everywhere on the court it seems. Davis now seems to be a confident shooter and putting points on the board. This was always something he added to his bag this season but it shinned through on Wednesday night. He was knocking down threes confidently. Looking for his shot. Adding another shooter around Devin Brown Devin Brown 6’5″ | SF Olentangy Orange | 2025 State OH is going to make Orange just a little bit better for this tournament run.
Highlights
Jason Singleton
Jason Singleton
Singleton’s performance on Thursday was extremely impressive. The sophomore led his team with 20 points. He made tough shots all game. His length allows him to shoot the ball over any defender’s block attempts. He is a nice athlete who could mature into a really good defender one day. He got to the rim really consistently and had some great acrobatic finishes. A name to watch out for this summer and moving forward.
Campbell was a key factor in the game on Thursday night due to his ability to finish quickly on both sides on the short corner dives. He is an extremely long sophomore who uses it very well. He is a great defender and rim protector for his size. He contests a lot of shots. He can guard multiple positions. He grabbed a ton of boards in a physical game. He is tough.
