These players have all had terrific seasons putting the ball in the hoop taking a majority of the load on offense. Here are who I think were some of the top scorers on the court this season for the 2026 class.
Hodge was excellent this season scoring on all three levels with the ball in his hands. He was in attack mode all season getting to the rim at will with his strong 6’5″ frame. Hodge uses his handles to create that extra separation on his jump shots and will look to blow by defenders to get inside the heart of defenses. He can stop on a dime and hit the tough contested midrange shot or use his effective ball fake to get defenders in the air to force a foul. Hodge averaged over 12.5 ppg this season.
Derkack was a machine this season when it came to scoring inside the paint because of his fearless ability to attack to rim over anyone. His soft touch around the rim when posting up players is what allowed him to get many easy buckets this season. Derkack also dominated the fastbreaks constantly rim running looking for his teammates to throw it up to him. He can hang in the air longer than most players which gives him the ability to get some tough high-arching finishes. His midrange game is smooth and takes his time to get the best shot possible. Derkack averaged over 20 ppg.
Burnam was as exciting to watch as anyone in his class this season when it came to putting the ball in the hoop. Watching him put defenses on their heels the whole game was a sight to see. Burnam has quick handles which allowed him to blow by a weaker defender almost every time. He finishes strong around the rim over anyone in his way with his big 6’4″ frame. Burnam can create his shot whenever he is in trouble looking to get shots from deep and in the midrange game with his quick and high release. He averaged over 13.5 ppg this season.
Taylor Jr. is a threat to score the basketball in every way possible as this season he averaged over 16.1 ppg. His jump shot is smooth and quick from downtown as he hit 65 three-pointers. He uses his quick handles to get to the rim and finish over taller players fairly easily thanks to his soft touch. Taylor Jr. can hit some tough contested shots from anywhere on the court because of his zero hesitation when looking to score. His speed was also a problem for defenses especially on the fastbreak with him flying up and down the court with defenders trailing him.
Highlights
Spross made some big jumps in the rankings this season as that was evident in his play. Averaging 19.7 ppg Spross was on a mission the whole season to score the basketball as much as possible. At 6’2″ he has great speed and tight handles which allowed him to get to the rim to use his strong finishing ability over bigger defenders. He is always a threat on the fastbreak and will not hesitate to hit the pull-up three or look to attack weaker defenders in the paint. Spross has a smooth midrange game and can rise over anyone looking to contest him.
