One of the elite shooters nationally in the 2026 class, Spurlock didn’t even touch the rim on his first three 3-point attempts. With range out to 25+ feet, Spurlock is a tough cover because of the range on the court he extends the defense to guard him. Not a very quick athlete but he has good touch at the rim on drives and likes two-foot finishes and pull-ups. Not going to be a point guard at the college level, Spurlock reads the court at a high level and can make the simple reads to his teammates, especially in transition. With his body, he’ll defend 2’s and 3’s at the college level as his chest and ability to take contact will allow him to defend up positionally. His defensive IQ also stands out as he reads the opposing offense well and makes smart gambles defensively. I expect Spurlock to be a high priority for mid and low major schools, Portland State and USF have already offered and I expect more schools to come calling before the summer is over.
Highlights
I liked watching Russell compete starting three freshmen, while they struggled defensively to keep up with the fast-paced Boyd County offense, they showed a lot of promise and already hold some impressive wins. Scoring an and-1 layup off an offensive rebound on the first possession was a sign of things to come for Rimmer on Tuesday night. I liked that Rimmer attacked with his left hand and tried to finish with it. Rimmer also attempted a couple 3-pointers, showing some perimeter shooting potential, making one from the top of the key. I’ll be curious how Rimmer’s body develops over the next few years and if he continues to develop his ball handling. One of the more productive 2027 prospects in Kentucky right now.
Highlights
Aiken is having a great season and thanks to their 2025 guard duo, clinched the CMAC title on Friday night with a win at Western Hills. Arnold is a crafty guard who made some impressive layup finishes, especially in transition. Able to finish with both hands at the basket, Arnold is tough to stop with momentum getting to the paint. A half court heave at the first quarter buzzer was one of many highlights Arnold had. Also throwing some impressive no-look passes, Arnold was the engine driving the offense for Aiken.
Burnett, like Arnold, had a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give Aiken momentum as the third quarter ended. An impressive shooter, Burnett hit 3’s off the catch while running off screens and spotting up against the zone defense Western Hills threw at Aiken. With soft touch on jumpers, Burnett got the friendly bounce on a couple mid-range shots as well. Burnett and Arnold are a fun pair to watch as we prepare for the playoffs.
A strong guard, Hinton is a Sophomore who plays bigger than his listed height. Able to play through contact at the rim and scrappy going after loose balls, Hinton makes a lot of toughness plays on both ends of the court. Also knocking down a time and space 3-pointer, Hinton could be due for a breakout Junior season after Western Hills graduates three starters from their team this season.
