Pryce Gregoire Pryce Gregoire 6'6" | SF De Pere | 2025 State WI – 2025 – SF – De Pere
Gregoire was a big x-factor in Saturday’s win. De Pere, as they often do, operated like a machine offensively. But when the ball didn’t find the bottom of the net or the Redbirds didn’t get their top options a shot in sets, it was Gregoire who made a lot of things happen. Whether it was hitting 3’s late in possessions, hitting the offensive glass, or making timely defensive plays, Gregoire just started showing up. Been waiting to see some of this all-around ability from Gregoire, who definitely has a chance to blossom as a scorer, but can give his team a stat-stuffing presence as well. The lanky 6-foot-6 wing is starting to come into his own and you can see him exuding a lot of confidence right now. Finishing with 14 points, Gregoire was also terrific defensively, particularly in the second half. He got matched up with Pewaukee’s star down the stretch and did as good of a job as I’ve seen anyone do this season, helping shut the door for De Pere.
Highlights
Will Hornseth Will Hornseth 6'8" | PF De Pere | 2024 State #208 Nation WI – 2024 – PF – De Pere
Once again, Hornseth, showed how well-rounded of a post prospect he is. De Pere made Pewaukee defend the Northern Iowa commit in the post until they sent help. And if they didn’t…Hornseth ate, finishing with 18 points. Able to score over either shoulder, Hornseth has a myriad of post moves he can get to. Even when he picks up his dribble and makes you think he’s stuck, Hornseth really isn’t. Once the double teams came, Hornseth handled them like a veteran. He only dribbled with a purpose, knew where his teammates were, and didn’t bring the ball down and put possession in jeopardy. Loved his impact defensively too. Not that there wasn’t a ton of highlight plays, but De Pere was comfortable switching a lot of screens on top and letting Hornseth defend on an island. The 6-foot-8 senior did a terrific job of keeping Pewaukee’s guards out of the paint and forcing tough jumpers, or in most cases, making them give the ball up. It definitely wasn’t the mismatch the Pirates were hoping for.
Nick Janowski Nick Janowski 6'3" | SG Pewaukee | 2024 State #126 Nation WI – 2024 – G – Pewaukee
This kid just does not feel defense. Janowski was in a tough spot on Saturday. On one hand, he needs his teammates to keep developing if Pewaukee is going to make it four straight state titles. On the other, they’re not going to win a game like this if he doesn’t score 40 points. So, you can kind of feel that stress taking its toll on Janowski, who still scored 30 points despite going against one of the state’s top defensive clubs, who has the luxury of throwing a number of different bodies on him. De Pere really sat on Janowski’s left hand, but the Nebraska commit was still very productive whether he had to finish with his right or eventually able to get to his strong hand after a few dribbles. Once again, Janowski was forced into numerous tough shots, but he kept hitting at a high rate and just refused to slow down offensively. Janowski was 13-of-22 from the field and also grabbed five rebounds in the loss.
Zach Kinziger Zach Kinziger 6'3" | SG De Pere | 2025 State #127 Nation WI – 2025 – G – De Pere
It’s always interesting to see how players will react in big-time individual matchups, particularly when one prospect is younger than the other. Kinziger definitely didn’t shy away. While he took a few minutes to get into the flow of the game and kind of feel things out, when Kinziger went…he attacked the game, scoring a team-high 24 points. Not sure what his upside really is at the Big Ten level, but the Wisconsin commit just does everything right. Case in point, Kinziger will hit a gap and attack off the bounce. If he gets cut off or is forced to pick up his dribble, he’s not trying to force anything. He gives it up, hustles back to the perimeter, and looks for the next shot. His dribble and replace IQ is through the roof and Kinziger got a lot of his shots that way, getting the defense to relax, thinking they had won the battle, only for Kinziger to get the ball back a few seconds later and drain a 3-pointer, because his man didn’t put in that extra work to close out a second time. In addition to being a sharpshooter, Kinziger does the dirty work too. He’s a terrific rebounder for his size, is always the first on the floor for a loose ball, and has a lockdown mentality defensively that’s going to come in handy for the Badgers in the Big Ten.
Luka Momcilovic Luka Momcilovic 6'8" | SF Pewaukee | 2025 State WI – 2025 – F – Pewaukee
Momcilovic got Pewaukee off to a great start, scoring seven quick points, including a 3-pointer. The junior forward would post 14 points (6-8) and seven rebounds in the loss. Momcilovic was a little up against it defensively, having to defend Hornseth on the block. Like his brother, Luka is more of a finesse combo forward. Still, I thought the 6-foot-7 Momcilovic battled and didn’t shy away from the matchup. Offensively, he’s still got a very high ceiling and I think could be a steal for a Division 2 program. With a sweet stroke from 3-point range, a back-to-the-basket fall away game, and some handles, Momcilovic still isn’t even close to his upside of being a matchup nightmare. In a deep 2025 class, he’s a guy I can see finishing in the top 12-18 when all is said and done.
