The teams in the beautiful Shakopee High facility all set out to attain bragging rights for the year. Each game had highlight worthy plays, and players looking to prove their team was worthy of a Championship Title. Although there can only be one champion, there was no shortage of intensity throughout the entire weekend in each division. This huge event had all of the best talent in the state of Minnesota. Below, I highlighted the “Day 1 Standouts” that I was able to watch at the “Twin Cities Takedown”.
Lincoln Colo | WOTN
Colo was a paint presence for WOTN on both ends of the floor. He has a good combination of size and speed that allows him to stay in front of ball handlers. He served as a strong help side defender, by blocking and altering shots at the rim. After pulling defensive boards, he was able to take it coast to coast and help him team push the pace.
Brady Hendrickson Brady Hendrickson 5'11" | PG MN | WOTN
Hendrickson was a solid playmaker and a calming presence for WOTN. His tight and handle and height allowed him to see plays before they occurred. He was able to board in the paint with the bigs and extend plays. Hendrickson was one of the most versatile players in the gym on day 1.
Alex Loos Alex Loos 6'2" | SG MN | 58 Hoops
Loos was a floor leader who led by example for 58 Hoops. His patience and high level decision making was on display on day 1. He was a calming presence that controlled the pace of the game. The big guard extended plays with his rebounding and finished strong around the basket. He was also able to chip in some threes on catch and shoot situations.
Jaxson Wyngaard Jaxson Wyngaard WI | The Valley
Wyngaard is a methodical scorer and floor leader for The Valley. He proved to be very effective with his dribbles when attacking a defender. He knew where his teammates were when help arrived. Most impressive was his ability to catch fire from range when left open.
