Jaxson Wyngaard
About Jaxson
Expert Analysis
Brett Pickarts | Prep Hoops Scout
Wyngaard was consistently solid for Team 1848 in their game versus Wisconsin Academy on Saturday. The six-foot-one guard was able to get to his spot in the midrange and knock down some deep triples. Wyngaard is never out of control on the offensive end, something to be desired in a high level game like this one. Jaxson, who attends Kimberly, was fantastic on the defensive end with his natural instincts and physical toughness. Wyngaard figures to be a staple for Head Coach Cam Cerroni next year in the FVA.

Jaxson was excellent in the second game I was able to take in on Saturday against DFTP. Wyngaard is a consistent three point threat from well beyond the arc. He has a quick trigger and confidence to really fill the stat sheet when he gets going offensively. I was impressed with Wyngaard’s ability to use his shiftiness to get to the basket and make the right reads in transition. Wyngaard will be a player to watch in the FVA as he matures with strength and develops the other parts of his game this spring and summer.

Wyngard of Kimberly impressed as a smooth-scoring combo guard who played with poise. He balanced outside shooting with crafty drives, reading defenses and keeping the offense on schedule. Whether he was spacing the floor, attacking closeouts in the half-court, Wyngard displayed his ability to score with efficiency.

Sound in almost every facet of the game, Wyngaard takes good shots — and usually makes them — while also moving the ball, defending and handling the ball against intense pressure. He often scores in flurries, but he can put up points in a hurry. His ability to play different guard positions while playing with good basketball intuition could earn him a spot with the varsity squad for new Kimberly coach Kam Cerroni this winter. Just a very good all-around player who ranks No. 18 in the class of 2028 Prep Hoops Player Rankings.

Wyngaard made his presence felt as a scorer finding the rim in different ways. He has the ability to get hot from three in the blink of an eye and if he is not respected out there he can torch opposing defenses. Wyngaard converted on a ton of easy buckets inside the two point line and took smart shots. He showed some flashes as a facilitator finding teammates for scoring chances of their own.

Jaxson was one of the best scorers I saw at the 15U level this past weekend. He can score from anywhere on the floor, displaying a lot of confidence in his abilities. He is a great perimeter shooter and needed to be accounted for at all times by the defense. He could work himself into his spots in the mid-range and at the basket, converted on some acrobatic layups. Wyngaard is also a fantastic passer, setting his teammates up in both of the games I saw.
