Some players are playing major varsity minutes, some barely play, and others are on the sophomore team. These are prospects that we have come across in the last year that have caught our eye who are worth monitoring going forward. Here is our Watch List 2027 Wing Prospects in ALPHABETICAL ORDER. This is not a ranking! Got it?
Camron Dunson-Riggs Camron Dunson-Riggs 6'5" | SF Normal West | 2027 IL (Normal West)
Dunson-Riggs came into the season with a ton of hype as one of the top prospects in his class. Played early in the season, but we haven’t seen him on the court since. What you have to like about him is that the long and rangy wing brings elite athleticism to the table on the wing. Can put guys on posters in transition and is a big time slashing threat.
Quinton Kitt Quinton Kitt 6'4" | SF East Peoria | 2027 IL (East Peoria)
Kitt could be the best central Illinois prospect early on in the 2027 class. He is a 6’4” forward that if he continues to grow could be a four, but definitely has the perimeter skills to be a three man as well. Long and rangy frame that can deck it well especially with quick and decisive moves taking it to the rack. Liked how he rebounds on both ends clearing them defensively and getting put backs offensively. Touch on his shot from both mid-range and three while showing grit scoring in the paint. Versatile inside/outside threat that has a lot of upside!
Kendall Meyers Kendall Meyers 6'3" | SG Marist | 2027 IL (Marist)
Like what this 6’3” power wing brings to the table. Strong frame that gets downhill whether it is with power or creativity off the bounce. Scores it in transition bursting through defenders to get to the rack. Like his mid-range game a lot and is a capable off the ball passer. Broke out at the Prep Hoops Illinois Freshman Showcase.
Duke Ross Duke Ross 6'3" | SG St. Ignatius | 2027 IL (St. Ignatius)
Ross is a long and rangy wing that has projectability to continue to grow. His strength right now is his long range shooting. Can really shoot it off the catch with a clean stroke and shows good instincts to continue to grow as an all-around player.
Damari Stephens Damari Stephens 6'3" | SG Kenwood | 2027 IL (Kenwood)
This freshman shooting guard has played spot minutes for a stacked Kenwood squad. Well built guard that attacks the cup with force and is a good defender with active hands.
Davion Thompson Davion Thompson 6'2" | SG Bolingbrook | 2027 IL (Bolingbrook)
What more can be said about Thompson that already hasn’t. He is without question one of the top prospects in this class and regardless of class in Illinois. We first saw him in June against DGN take on the assignment of guarding all-state senior Jack Stanton Jack Stanton 6'2" | SG Downers Grove North | 2024 State #222 Nation IL where more than held his own. Then on the other end torched the final four team leading to a win. That set the stage for what we have seen as a freshman where he has been nothing short of spectacular. The lefty two guard can play both on and off the ball. He is a high level scorer that has a plus jumper, killer spin move, and is slippery through traffic getting to the rim. Makes good decisions as a passer when he is doubled and stuffs the stat sheet. He almost carried his team to a Jack Tosh Title against the defending state champs in Metamora over the holidays with one of the best performances we have ever seen from a freshman. High-major all the way!
Howard Williams Howard Williams 6'5" | SF Whitney Young | 2027 IL (Whitney Young)
Williams is another wing that has seen results already as a freshman playing on the varsity level for a perennial contender. This small forward has great size at about 6’5” with a strong and athletic frame. High level athlete that plays with a motor. He has proven as a freshman to be a very good rebounder already crashing the glass on a consistent basis. As a scorer he is great in transition, slashes very well, and is improving rapidly as a shot maker. Potential to be an absolute monster defender on the perimeter! One of the best freshman in the state and another probably high-major prospect.
