Dayton Dunbar is a historic program and they got a second consecutive victory at this event thanks to a great effort by Brewer Jr. The senior wing guard shot it well from the outside and played really hard to get open in transition looks. The ball also found him a few times for easy buckets. Walnut Ridge didn’t play very disciplined defense and Brewer Jr connected on all eight of his free throw attempts. A quality win for the Wolverines in a Columbus Vs Dayton city league showdown.
Wayne Trace is in our top 10 Division III teams and they won the small-town showdown of the event on Saturday afternoon with a strong performance, headlined by Laukhuf. Committed to Ohio Dominican, Laukhuf had an efficient scoring afternoon by making the game simple. Taking one and two dribble pull ups plus leaking out in transition made the 29 point scoring effort look effortless. Expect to hear a lot about Laukhuf in the GMAC as a freshman as he’s got the talent to be an instant contributor.
The future Marquette duo of Parham and Damarius Owens Damarius Owens 6’7″ | SF Western Reserve Academy | 2024 State #61 Nation OH combined for 46 points and both shot over 50% from the floor in a comfortable victory for Western Reserve Academy against Canyon International Academy. Parham just flat out produces, he moves without the basketball and can really score from inside the paint. Also capable of stepping out and hitting the jumper, the consistency of that shot is going to be key for him at the next level. I thought the defining play of the day for Parham was when he caught a trail kickout and took two dribbles then knocked down a floater with a defender riding him the entire way. Moves like that will translate to the high major level and Parham will be one of the younger freshman in the country next season.
Not sure how many kids knock down seven 3-pointers against a defending state champion but Taylor did that on Saturday against Louisiana powerhouse Isidore Newman. Taylor has been a steady stock riser throughout this season and continued to show why he’s such an intriguing talent. Definitely worthy of making another rankings leap during our next update, Taylor has a chance to be a big-time college role piece with his size, athleticism and most importantly outside shooting ability.
Highlights
He recently took our top spot in the 2026 rankings and Marcus Johnson Marcus Johnson 6’1″ | PG Garfield Heights | 2026 State OH continues to elevate his game on the big stage. After 26 points in a win over Western Reserve Academy last Sunday, Johnson had 40 in a win over Faith Family Academy from Texas. Just a flat out gamer who steps up when the lights shine brightest, Johnson continues to answer the call that is a tough Garfield Heights schedule. Making some great plays attacking the basket by scoring through contact and making veteran plays by keeping the defender on his back and then finishing past some high major forwards at the rim. Combine that with his elite shot-making off the bounce with five 3-pointers and it was a complete effort from Johnson.
The hometown Kettering Alter Knights gave Westminster all they could handle in a one point victory for the Florida program, hanging on by a thread in the end. I thought Constanza was high level all game, showing impressive patience when the ball was in his hands. Obviously an elite athlete with a great body for his age, I thought what separated Constanza from other forwards his age was how he thought the game and was efficient with his looks. One of the top talents in the 2026 class nationally, Constanza is a name to watch for NBA scouts and high majors programs that are recruiting him which include Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Ole Miss, St John’s and much more.
