A big performance at Flyin’ To The Hoop brought Brewer into the spotlight as he produced every time I caught Dayton Dunbar this year. Brewer had nine 20+ point scoring games and was second among Dayton Public Schools players in points per game. I was impressed with Brewer’s straight line drive ability, on ball defense and perimeter shooting. A player who is capable of contributing at the small college level.

Brewer came out the gates hot for Dunbar. He helped jump them out to an early lead in the first score by scoring 8 points. He was scoring it from all levels but did the majority of his damage from beyond the arc. He shoots the ball with a high arch. He has a long wingspan so he can get his shot off with not much space. He consistently jabbed the defender back off of him and then shot it. In the second half when the defense was focusing on his shooting, he got to the rim easy. He has a quick first step and is a good athlete.

Dayton Dunbar is a historic program and they got a second consecutive victory at this event thanks to a great effort by Brewer Jr. The senior wing guard shot it well from the outside and played really hard to get open in transition looks. The ball also found him a few times for easy buckets. Walnut Ridge didn’t play very disciplined defense and Brewer Jr connected on all eight of his free throw attempts. A quality win for the Wolverines in a Columbus Vs Dayton city league showdown.
