South Stokes (12-0)

The Sauras turned a lot of heads with their Frank Spencer Championship run as [player_tooltip player_id='1274327' first='Barry' last='Hairston'] Jr. took home MVP honors. They took down a few 4A teams en route to the title game and look to carry the momentum into conference play. They'll face East Wilkes on Tuesday then a rematch against Mt Tabor on Saturday.

2. Wilson Prep (8-3)

Last year's defending state champions check in at No. 2 in the preliminary power rankings. [player_tooltip player_id='2232877' first='Ben' last='Ferguson'] has hit the ground running as a new face for them while [player_tooltip player_id='1772438' first='Leslie' last='Minter Jr']. and [player_tooltip player_id='1104960' first='Brandon' last='Anderson'] have played strong roles as well. They're close on the heels of the preliminary top pick, South Stokes, with a few losses on the record, but they're still 5-0 in the Tar Roanoke. They'll face Weldon and Warren County this week.

3. Bertie High (9-1)

The Falcons took their first loss of the season to 4A Garner High this past weekend, but all is not lost as they look to make another run in the state playoffs. They're 2-0 in the Four Rivers Conference with Zy'miere Dempsey, Jah'kelvin Rascoe and Tequan Holley leading the charge for them. Martin County and Hillside are on the schedule this week.

4. Robbinsville High (9-2)

The Black Knights are 6-0 in the Smoky Mountain Conference already and they look like the team to beat in the conference following Friday's victory over Hayesville. Nantahala is on the conference schedule for Thursday then they'll face Blue Ridge Early College on Friday in non-conference action.

5. Corvian Community (9-2)

They're 3-1 in the 1A/2A Catawba Shores Conference and riding an eight-game winning streak following a 77-65 victory over Sun Valley this past Saturday. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2149164' first='RJ' last='Moore'] has made quite the splash in his varsity debut while seniors Jack Hudson and junior [player_tooltip player_id='2374710' first='Doug' last='Quarles III'] have filled the voids in other ways. They've got Mountain Island Charter on the schedule Friday.

6. Northampton County (6-2)

Northampton County checks in at 6-2 and No. 6 in the preliminary power rankings. Williams is playing strong in attacking the basket and getting the energy going for the Jaguars. They've got Southeast Halifax and North Edgecombe on the schedule this week.

7. Bishop McGuinness (9-2)

[player_tooltip player_id='1411239' first='John' last='Campbell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1731146' first='Cal' last='Barrett'] are their senior names to know but they've got a strong cast of juniors and a sophomore to know as well. They're already 7-0 in the Northwest Piedmont Conference as they look to be a strong out in this year's 1A field. They'll face Winston-Salem Prep and Piedmont Classical this week.

8. North Edgecombe (7-2)

The Warriors have won six games in a row and counting and are 4-1 in the Tar Roanoke Conference. Their trio of [player_tooltip player_id='1383801' first='Dontrevious' last='Whitaker'] (18.0 PPG), Alijah Felder (11.3 PPG) and Latraviun Parker (10.8 PPG) have them playing well so far as they look to make another run in the state playoffs.
