Continue ReadingWith teams on a hiatus during the holiday break, let’s check in on the statistical leaders in each category in each class to get a better feel for who some of the most productive players in the state have been so far this season. Leaders for this article are from whatever has been input into Bound as of 12/26 at 10:30 am. (Minimum 2 3PA per game played.)
1.) 2024 Aiden Flathers (Exira-EHK) – 56.4% (31/55)
A 5-11 guard who has shown the ability to play with and without the ball in his hands this season, Flathers is leading the Spartans in assists (4.7 per game) while also ranking second in scoring, pouring in 15.2 points a game. He shoots it really well both off the dribble and the catch.
2.) 2025 Seth Ours (Hillcrest Academy) – 53.7% (29/54)
Another 5-11 guard who has shown that he can create for his teammates as well as knock down shots off the catch, Ours is actually shooting it significant better from the arc than he is from 2-point range (44.3%). He’s averaging a team-high 16.0 points and 3.6 assists a game for the Ravens.
3.) 2025 Cole Griffith (North Linn) – 52.0% (13/25)
After playing sparingly last season as a sophomore, Griffith has started half of the Lynx’s games so far this season and provided some additional perimeter shooting, knocking down over half of his 3-pointers so far this season. He also gives the Lynx another reliable ball-handler and decision-maker. He’s averaging 7.6 points and 3.0 assists with a 3.75 assist-to-turnover ratio.
4.) 2024 Lance Helming Lance Helming 6'5" | PF Lake Mills | 2024 State IA (Lake Mills) – 51.7% (15/29)
Helming has been one of the best players in 1A so far this season, averaging 21.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists on 51-52-70 shooting splits. With his size (6-6), he’s able to get his shot off pretty much whenever he wants, and his added range is a major weapon for himself and the Bulldogs as a whole.
5.) 2026 Reece Youmans (Southeast Warren) – 50.0% (13/26)
A 6-1 sophomore, Youmans has far-and-away been the most dangerous perimeter shooting threat this season for the Warhawks, allowing star forward Cam Seuferer additional space to operate inside the arc by drawing some of the double teams away. He’s shooting twice as well from 3-point range as from 2-point distance so far this season.
6.) 2024 Lance McShane (Maquoketa Valley) – 50.0% (11/22)
A 6-3 forward who does a majority of his damage around the rim, McShane has added some range to his game this season, making him an even more dangerous weapon on the offensive end. The result is a near double-double average of 20.4 points and 9.8 rebounds a game on 51-50-81 splits.
7.) 2024 Charlie Rowenhorst (Waterloo Christian) – 50.0% (8/16)
Rowenhorst doesn’t shoot it often, averaging a little over 3.5 field goal attempts per game, but when he does shoot, it’s probably going to go in. The shooting that he is able to provide gives star forward Drew Wagner Drew Wagner 6'3" | PF Waterloo Christian | 2024 State IA (28.6 points per game) some additional space to operate.
8.) 2024 Ben Woodall (South O’Brien) – 50.0% (15/30)
The Wolverines are off to a great 8-0 start and a #5 rankings in Class 1A. Woodall, a 6-0 guard, has been a significant piece of that success, averaging 7.8 points on efficient shooting to go with 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and a 4.43 assist-to-turnover ratio.
9.) 2025 Dylan Marquart Dylan Marquart 6'1" | SG Dunkerton | 2025 State IA (Dunkerton) – 48.6% (34/70)
Marquart is one of the best pure shooters in the state, and he has stepped into the primary scoring role for the Raiders this season and been sensational, averaging 23.6 points on 53-49-68 splits. He has good size and length on the perimeter and is a dynamic shooter both off the dribble and the catch.
10.) 2026 Cole Millikin (Pekin) – 48.5% (16/33)
A talented sophomore shooter, Millikin has come off the bench to give the Panthers a bit of a scoring spark, averaging 6.7 points and helping stretch the floor. He moves well without the ball in his hands and has a quick release.
