Indiana is full of great teams and talented players thus giving the fans incredible matchups every week. Join me, Kyler Staley, every Monday during the season as I preview the 3 Players, 3 Teams, and 3 Matchups to watch for that coming week. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
3 Players
Tyler Parrish Tyler Parrish 6’3″ | SG Chesterton | 2024 State IN is a making a strong case as one of the top stock-risers int he state this high school and is just putting on big game after big game. He is coming off a very impressive showing at the Fishers Classic with him leading Chesterton in points in all three games. Parish is one of the more naturally athletic guards in the state and plays with a fantastic motor on both ends of the floor. He is also one of the more versatile guards in the state as he can shoot it from deep and explode through the lane and finish at the rim. Surprised more schools at every level aren’t taking more of a look at him. He and Chesterton travel to Merrillville on 1/6.
Singleton was another player coming off an impressive showing at the Fishers Classic last week. While Jeffersonville themselves went 1-2, Singleton was alright spot every games and really showed why he is one of the top players in the 2025 in-state class. He takes up so much size in the paint and pairs it so well with incredible smoothness while also being able to score through the contact of the defense. He can also play as a more versatile big as well stretching the floor at times. He is expected to have a strong remaining part of the season as well as a big summer that will get him more D1 looks. He and Red Devils will have a tough week ahead as they travel to New Albany (1/5) and Brownstown (1/6) this week.
In my opinion, Elexander Harris Elexander Harris 5’11” | PG Arsenal Tech | 2026 State IN is one of one of the more overlooked guards in the in-state 2026 class. As a lead guard, Harris is fantastic on the ball and does such a great job creating scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates. He displays some sharp court vision and has proved to be a consistent three-level scorer with his speed on the ball and ability to create. He definitely comes from a great family tree having two great basketball players as older brothers and will have a chance to follow in their footsteps. Check him ou this week as Tech travels to Herron (1/2) and Fort Wayne Wayne (1/6).
3 Teams
Crispus Attucks (4A): The Tigers of Crispus Attucks gained a lot of people’s respect this week after being both Kokomo and Brownstown to win the prestigious Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle. This team is one of the more deep teams you will see in the state and it all starts with the big man, 2025 power forward Dezmon Briscoe Dezmon Briscoe 6'9" | PF Crispus Attucks | 2025 State #107 Nation IN . Around Briscoe, you have a great senior guard duo in UIndy commit Ron Rutland III Ron Rutland III 6'1" | SG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN and Mason Lewis Mason Lewis 5'9" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN , who is starting to have a breakout senior season as well. Fellow juniors Chris Hurt Chris Hurt 5'11" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2025 State IN and Eric Jackson Eric Jackson 6'6" | PF Crispus Attucks | 2025 State IN have been great this season, as well. The Tigers are proving they will be making a deep run in the postseason. They will be looking to improve their current 4-game winning streak as they host Gary 21st on 1/6.
South Bend St. Joesph (3A): While they currently sit on a 6-6 record, SBSJ has shown they can be tough team at the 3A level. They recently snapped a 3-game losing streak with an overtime win over Homestead at the Homestead tournament so that could be a momentum booster. When looking at the top player here, you immediately look at 2025 wing Chase Konieczny Chase Konieczny 6'4" | SG South Bend Saint Joseph | 2025 State #277 Nation IN who is more than capable of filling up a box score from game-to-game. 2026 transfer guard Nick Shrewsberry Nick Shrewsberry 6'4" | SG South Bend St. Joseph | 2026 State IN has proven to be a capable sidekick to him as well. They could really build on the momentum with a possible win over Penn on 1/4.
Park Tudor (2A): The Panthers of Park Tudor are starting to look like a force at the 2A level. Currently sitting on a 6-2 record, they have won games over Greenwood Christian, Evansville Reitz, and others already this season. It also helps to have one of the best pure scorers in the state with 2025 guard Hudson Horvath Hudson Horvath 6'1" | PG Park Tudor | 2025 State IN as well as 2025 shooting guard Kelin Mark Kelin Mark 6'2" | SG Park Tudor | 2025 State IN . 2026 lead guard Miles Wiley Miles Wiley 6'2" | PG Park Tudor | 2026 State IN is player to get to know as well. The Panthers have Lawrence Central (1/3) and Indy Metro (1/5) in their house this week.
3 Matchups
Evansville Christian (1A) at Linton-Stockton (2A) – Jan. 5th, 7:30PM
This could be the best southern Indiana basketball game of the week at the high school level. Linton-Stockton has proven a lot of doubters wrong this season and have proven to be one of the best teams in the 2A level once again at 7-3. They are incredible young team so going up against an experienced lead guard in Josiah Dunham Josiah Dunham 6'0" | PG Evansville Christian | 2024 State IN could prove to be very challenging. It’ll be a good old fashion southern Indiana showdown but given the Dunham factor here, I like the Eagles of Evansville Christian to get a big road win here.
Mount Vernon (Fortville) (4A) at Greenfield-Central (4A) – Jan 5th, 7:30PM
This could be a very fun, high scoring game that is just a shootout all the way through. Greenfield-Central, who is 10-0 on the season, arguably faces their toughest challenge yet in Mount Vernon (Fortville) who is home to stud sophomores Julien Smith Julien Smith 5'10" | PG Mount Vernon (Fortville) | 2026 State IN and R’mani Wells R’mani Wells 6'5" | SF Mount Vernon (Fortville) | 2026 State IN as well senior wing Brady Fitzgerald Brady Fitzgerald 6'3" | SF Mount Vernon (Fortville) | 2024 IN and junior lead guard Tanner Teschendorf Tanner Teschendorf 6'2" | PG Mount Vernon (Fortville) | 2025 State IN . However, that group will be going up against one of the best players in the state in Braylon Mullins Braylon Mullins 6'6" | SG Greenfield-Central | 2025 State #123 Nation IN and his group of guys that have really stepped up this entire season. While we know it will be a high scoring, it is going to come down to which team steps up on the defensive end and with that, I give that edge to Greenfield-Central in a very close one.
Delta (3A) at New Palestine (4A) – Jan 5th, 7:30PM
This game has a big time “prove yourself” feel to it with two teams looking to prove themselves as players in both of their respective classes. Delta goes on the road to New Palestine and bring their senior trio of D’Amare Hood D’Amare Hood 6'4" | SF Delta | 2024 State IN , Jackson Wors Jackson Wors 6'4" | PF Delta | 2024 State IN , and Jayden Furney Jayden Furney 6'1" | SG Delta | 2024 IN . New Palestine, however, will have a great group that combat them led by junior group Julius Gizzi, Ben Slagley Ben Slagley 6'3" | PF New Palestine | 2025 State IN , Moses Haynes Moses Haynes 5'9" | PG New Palestine | 2025 State IN , and Keegan Harrison. Anther game that I feel could be somewhat of a shootout which I think could favor Delta here, which is why I see them winning this one on the road and improving to 11-1 on the year.
