Guards Trending Up From D1 Jets Fall Open Runs

On Sunday, PHI had the opportunity to attend an open run hosted by the D1 Jets in New Lenox, IL. The session provided a valuable look at players from the classes of 2028 and 2029. As guys are continuing to play throughout the Fall months, we were able to see some players who we had not seen since June or July. Below we will take a closer look at several guard prospects who caught our attention throughout the day.    A quick agitating guard that sticks out with awareness on the defensive end. Boyd tracked down some steals from behind and likes to defend. Changes speeds with the ball at times to get the spacing necessary to shoot it. Plays with a noticeable energy on both ends to provide value beyond scoring.     An instinctive defender that showed a nose for the ball. Watson has quick hands to constantly get into zero gap pressure and dig one pass away to disrupt possessions. He is able to help generate multiple turnovers in doing so with his activity and awareness. Runs the transition game well helping ignite break opportunities and sprinting consistently in the open floor.     A strong framed guard that has matured strength as an off guard. Hardaway combines a solid handle with physicality to endure contact in multiple phases. He sees the floor well in transition and in the ½ court setting to make good reads with the ball. In dribble drive action he attacks with purpose while making good decisions once in the paint. For his height he can still compete on the glass because of his strength and effort. An under the radar 2029 that will only continue to build stock as high school career progresses.     A quick and creative ball handler that does a wise job of changing speeds to get space. Jones has a knack for finding slivers of gaps and then attacking them off the bounce to facilitate. He consistently draws additional defenders to then make quality reads for spray outs or delivering well timed drop offs to bigs. His feel for the game to see the floor continues to pop out. Jones also provides quality shot selections from mid range and even with his size still has finishing touch in traffic. Competes overall with toughness and solid activity.     Had not seen Jackson play since last Summer. The Homewood Flossmoor guard provided strong guard play on Sunday with his abilities on both sides. Defensively he utilized quick hands to initiate turnovers and stayed in correct positioning on an doff the ball. In the primary break phase, Jackson helps facilitate transition opportunities with pitch ahead passes and speeding up pace. He adds perimeter value from beyond the arc at times and spaces away accordingly on dribble drive action. Overall brings energy and a solid feel to the game.     A tough competitive lead playmaking point guard. Brown shows anticipation on the next action consistently throughout. With his strong stature, he plays through contact once in the paint and can bounce off defenders without disrupting balance. His offensive versatility continues to make strides being able to score it from all 3 levels on a smooth jumper or poised finishes at the cup. Brown possesses a deceptive explosiveness on cuts off the ball or drives to the hole. A well rounded presence that continues to make him one of the top prospects in the class of 2029.     An aggressive slasher the gets into the paint and attacks downhill. Tornincasa draws additional defenders to open up opportunities for teammates. He shows efficient finishing touch with some creativity at the rim as well. Plays with a solid motor while running hard in the transition phase to help generate quick offense. Showed a willingness to step out and shoot from beyond the arc which also adds a dimension to his game.
