The field consists of eight schools representing five different states. Prep Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek was on the grounds of the event. Here is who stood out on Day 2:
The 6-5 senior wing and University of Missouri signee brought his athletic frame to the table, finishing with a game-high 20 points in the win over SLAM Tampa. Boateng played under control using his strength to finish at the front of the rim while being unafraid of contact. On the defensive side, Boateng played with a ton of versatility where he often at times was seen guarding multiple positions.
Highlights
The 6-6 senior wing played with absolute toughness on both ends of the floor where he displayed his explosiveness around the rim. On the offensive end, he finished well around the basket finishing with a game-high 28 points in the win over Tampa Catholic. He also displayed a ton of confidence when it came to his smooth shooting stroke from the mid-range, as well as providing solid rim protection on the glass on the defensive end.
The 6-2 sophomore guard made it look easy when it came to scoring in transition, as well as off the catch on the offensive end. Collins used his athletic frame and speed as well on the defensive end where he displayed good energy and activity in the passing lanes. He also did a good job when it came to applying pressure on the ball where he got strips and steals which led to fast break points on the offensive end of the floor. Look for Collins to play with more confidence for the rest of this season as well as the next two years after that.
Highlights
The 5-10 junior point guard took complete control of the game when it mattered most as he displayed a strong IQ on the offensive end. Walker played with a great feel as well as getting his teammates involved where he didn’t phase when defenders applied pressure on him. Walker finished with 16 points and five assists in the win over Coronado (Nevada). Keep an eye on Walker’s recruitment as he finishes the rest of this season as well as heading into his senior year.
The 6-6 junior wing continues to have a huge upside as he was making plays with and without the basketball in his hands. Stephenson showcased his ability on the offensive end where he was scoring on all three levels whether it was off the bounce or the catch. On the defensive end, Stephenson showed that he has a strong nose for the ball and was very active in the passing lanes displaying a ton of activity getting tips and deflections.
The 6-6 senior wing continues to display he is one of the top unsigned senior prospects in the state. Wright finished with a team-high 19 points in the win over Huntsville Lee (Alabama). Wright ran the floor well whether it was on the break or off a made basket. He added solid length around the rim where he didn’t allow the opposition to get a second chance opportunity. Wright has emerged his stock and has continued to get better as he should have a ton of potential to play at the next level right away.
