The underclassmen in New Jersey are set for a big 2023-24 season, especially in the Skyland Conference. Here are the underclassmen Skyland Conference prospects to watch.
Ethan Lin Ethan Lin 6'3" | PG Montgomery | 2026 State NJ , 6’3 PG Montgomery 2026
Lin is one of the most intriguing guard prospects in the 2026 class with his combination of length and skill. The 6’3 guard has a good handle and a quick first step, which he uses to blow by his defender off the bounce. Lin can finish in a number of ways around the basket and makes opponents pay for giving him space behind the arc. He uses his length to create deflections on the defensive end and can thread passes to his teammates in the halfcourt. Lin is a talented guard prospect who will make plays for Montgomery throughout the season.
Jacob Canton Jacob Canton 6'2" | PG Rutgers Prep | 2027 NJ , 6’2 PG Rutgers Prep 2027
Canton is one of the top freshmen prospects in the Garden State and will put it on display in 2023-24. The 6’2 guard attacks the basket strong as he can finish above the rim and does not mind contact. Canton does not get rattled by on-ball pressure and can find his open teammates in the halfcourt. He moves his feet on the defensive end and is a strong rebounder for a guard. Canton will have the ball in his hands in his debut varsity season, which will help his development in a big way.
Dorsett Mulcahy Dorsett Mulcahy 6'4" | SG Gill St. Bernard's | 2026 State NJ , 6’4 SG Gill St. Bernard’s 2026
Mulcahy has the potential to breakout this season as he will get more touches on the offensive end. The 6’4 guard has a nice handle, which he uses to get into the lane and finish around the basket. Mulcahy can also score in the mid-range and rarely makes bad decisions with the ball in his hands. He moves well without the ball in his hands and plays with good floor vision. Mulcahy’s ability to play on and off the ball is something that makes him one of the most interesting prospects in the 2026 class.
Donnie Gregory Donnie Gregory 6'2" | SG Pingry | 2026 State NJ , 6’2 SG Pingry 2026
Gregory had a solid debut season and should have an even 2023-24 season. The 6’2 guard has a clean release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Gregory moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open layups and jumpers in the halfcourt. He is an underrated passer and works hard on the defensive end. Gregory is a sharpshooting guard prospect whose ability to finish around the basket is something that will help his game throughout the winter.
Andrew Kretkowski Andrew Kretkowski 6'7" | SF Rutgers Prep | 2027 State NJ , 6’6 SF Rutgers Prep 2027
Kretkowski is a skilled wing prospect that has the potential to have a big debut varsity season. The 6’6 wing has a good face-up game as he can put the ball on the floor and finish above the rim. Kretkowski uses his size to see over his defender and rises up nicely on his jumper. He has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor and is an underrated passer. Kretkowski will be a prospect to watch throughout the season with his ability to impact the game in a number of ways.
