The South Suburban Preview

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lakeville North fending off Eastview and Shakopee last year for the league title, this year the Panthers are likely to be battling Shakopee and Lakeville South for the Southern Suburban crown.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Conference Commentary</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Top Ten in State</strong>: Lakeville North, Shakopee, Lakeville South</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These aren't just top ten teams in state, these are deep teams that are eyeing a state title. All have experienced players, all have a load of skill, and none of them have a back to the basket post with size returning to their line-up! North won the league by a pair of games last season and with Robison and Drake, and the always reloading senior class, they will be the favorite. South is also going to be a deep squad at guard and wing, and Shakopee might have the most depth at ball handler/guard of anybody around. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Top Ten in State Potential</strong>: Farmington, Eastview</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Farmington is the opposite of those above, they might just have the deepest frontcourt in the state with Hrncir, Beckwith, Domier, Wilcek and young players coming up. If they get the guard play they can have a great season. Eastview has only one player back from last year's line-up but it's one of the best players in the state in Mekonnen. They also got a transfer back from Iowa in Mestas who will help. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Compete with Most</strong>: Prior Lake, Rosemount, Eagan, Burnsville</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prior Lake has good youth and some decent veterans, they should win some games but be in the second half. Burnsville might have a steady group and surprise people while Rosemount will need some guards step up, but they do have a couple quality forwards. Then there is Eagan who I think could be sneaky good this year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Rebuilding</strong>: Apple Valley</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I feel bad for Apple Valley who had a nice group of young players but they lost their main piece to transfer and look to be starting over again this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph
