Koester might have made the most improvement of any player in NWO between their sophomore to junior seasons. This kid is a different player. He has an immense level of confidence now. This opens him up to being a killer. He has a quick shot that he can make with a lot of defensive pressure in his face. He also makes it off a catch-n-shoot just as well making him a sniper. He had multiple big-time shots this AAU season for the Ohio Buckets , showing his confidence. He is a great finisher. He is a sneaky-good athlete who absorbs contact well. He can finish with either hand. I think he has the potential to win TAAC POY in one of the most talented TAACs in a while.
Isiah Mack-Russell
Isiah Mack-Russell
Mack-Russell is an incoming freshman in the Toledo Central Catholic program who already holds a D1 offer. He has a great foundation for a freshman. He is tall, long, and has wide shoulders. Along with a lot of talent to go with it. He has a very high ceiling. His length and athleticism could lead him to be a very good defender. He has shown a good arsenal of moves on the offensive end that make him effective. He has a good shot but is more efficient getting to the rim. Good transition player. He will be one of Central’s best players on day 1 so I could expect the freshman to make a big impact and have a big season for the Irish.
Kowalczyk is similar to Koester in the improvement category. He has taken leaps and bounds with his game and confidence has come with it. He is much more aggressive and seeking his shot during the AAU season and has looked good! I expect him to carry this momentum into the winter months for the Titans. He is a tall and long player who can play inside and out and will need to this year. He has a really good one-dribble midrange pull-up game. A very high release that is hard to contest. He showed a little development in his back-to-the-basket game at the Toledo Top 64 in early October. Kowalczyk is going to be a name to know by the end of the season.
Jones is coming off a scorching hot off-season. He is someone who was not much of a role for St. John’s last year but will be a vital player for them this year and he is ready for it. He has phenomenal size and athleticism for a guard. He can guard every position on the perimeter and even hold his own on the inside. He is also a sneaky good rebounder. He can go and get the ball at its high point. Jones is also a skilled wing. He has good moves to create space for himself. This gives him space to get his smooth jumper off. Jones will be important for St. John’s on both ends of the floor this year.
Booker had a good freshman season for Rogers last year and plans on just getting better. He was 1st team all-conference and all-district honorable mention. He is going into his second year he will be a go-to guy for Rogers. He is a 6’1 point guard with length. He has a very smooth and great pace in his game. He won’t get sped up much. He has great confidence in his demeanor. He gives you a ton of buckets from all three levels. He just makes it look simple because his game is simple. He will be a top player in the city league this year and ready to take on more for Rogers this year.
