Koester is a killer on the court. This kid is a straight-up hooper and one of the most underrated guards in the state. He scores at such a high level and has the physical strength that allows him to score from all three levels. He is a sniper from beyond the arc, but he now has added a truly effective game around the rim. He is a strong player who moves other guards out of his way in the post. He has a good back-to-the-basket game. He has good patience and footwork. Even with all of Emmanuel Christian’s focus to stop Koester he still put up 20+ points.

One of the top shooters and scorers at the event, Koester was doing what I’ve seen him do at the high school and grassroots level on Sunday. Able to run off screens and knock down shots, Koester plays within himself offensively and just produces. No surprise he already has a couple of small college offers and surely increased his interest on Sunday.

For those that have seen Koester play live you walk away from the game knowing he is a dog. He is a three-level scorer and gets hot quickly. He scores in volumes and can truly change the game’s outcome with his scoring ability. He has a good size and uses it to get to the rack well. He has sneaky good finishes that show off his good touch around the rim. He has a nice one or two dribble pull-up game in the mid-range. He can light you up from deep as well. He is a good athlete that can hold his own against anyone. He competes the entire game and is someone you want on your team.

The Buckets’ game against TeamXcel was tied at half before Koester knocked down back-to-back triples. He scored the first 8 points of the half and proceeded to continue taking over the game, while remaining within the offense. Koester has a strong frame and used it to play at a controlled pace off the dribble. Smaller guards bounce off him. Scored in just about every imaginable way to put the game away.

Koester might have made the most improvement of any player in NWO between their sophomore to junior seasons. This kid is a different player. He has an immense level of confidence now. This opens him up to being a killer. He has a quick shot that he can make with a lot of defensive pressure in his face. He also makes it off a catch-n-shoot just as well making him a sniper. He had multiple big-time shots this AAU season for the Ohio Buckets , showing his confidence. He is a great finisher. He is a sneaky-good athlete who absorbs contact well. He can finish with either hand. I think he has the potential to win TAAC POY in one of the most talented TAACs in a while.

The last time I watched Koester play was in AAU with the Ohio Buckets and I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. This kid has straight up taken his game to the next level. He also knows it too. He plays with so much confidence and a new level of aggressiveness. He has a very high elevation on his jumper which brings him the ability to rise and shoot at any moment. He is good at off-the-dribble and on-the-move shooting. His shot is quick. He has a good midrange pull-up game. He plays his tail off as well.

A natural shooter and scorer, Koester is one of the most talented scoring wings in NW Ohio. After a strong spring with the Ohio Buckets 16 U group that included multiple big time shooting performances in big spots. After scoring 16 PPG as a Sophomore, he’s been hitting 20+ points with Toledo Chrisitan often in the month of June. Toledo Chrisitan is also playing eight-man football this season, look for Koester to make plays on the gridiron this fall as well.

Koester was the one kid I saw this weekend that I thought looked levies better than the last time I watched him play. He seemed much more confident and aggressive. He commanded the ball offensively and handled it very much and made the defense pay for pressuring him. He got to the rim very consistently and had some really impressive finishes. He looks to have gotten bigger, and stronger, and he seemed to have gained his confidence as a scorer. He is also a sniper. Don’t give him an inch because he will make you pay and has unlimited range. He showed much willingness to be the primary scoring option and did a great job at picking up the load when his teammate
