Toledo St john’s made sure Ohio wasn’t shut out of the semifinals, being the only one of three Toledo area squads to advance. Kowalczyk knocked down a couple of 3-pointers, had a breakaway dunk but most importantly, made numerous big to big assists in this game. Kowalczyk’s ability to force the defense to focus on him and find the open teammate helps make the Titan offense run in the half-court. Both

A tough loss for Toledo St John’s who has had some close calls to start the season, their brutal schedule will pay dividends when it comes time for the playoff. I was impressed with Kowalczyk’s shot-making ability from the perimeter, hitting a handful of contested mid-range shots from a variety of angles. Loving the fallaway shot, Kowalczyk can shoot over smaller defenders in the mid-post area. Kowalczyk also had a big fourth quarter to work his team back into the game and finished well with his left hand. One of the most talented forwards in Ohio’s 2026 class, it’s interesting seeing how Kowalczyk’s role has expanded from Sophomore to Junior season.

Kowalczyk is a player who is tough to stop because he can do what he wants with the ball. Then one of his best abilities is knocking down highly contested shots. He elevates high on his jump shots combined with his length his shot is tough to contest. He carries a lot of gravity on the court. When he has the ball in his hands you can see the defense focus on him and step into major help-side defense. He is an elite scorer.

Kowalczyk impressed with his versatility he is a budding face-up four with an immense deal of skill. He really impressed with his feel for the game and ability to convert on tough passes. Kowalczyk got to spots in the mid-range and frequently scored from there throughout the game. Race shoots a clean ball and if his feet are set when shooting good luck! He was in the right spots on the floor to get steals. His 14 points tied the team high scoring totals for St. John’s.

Kowalczyk is a high-level player. He does some things at a high level. He is a high-volume shooter and scorer with some high confidence. He is not afraid to shoot the ball, and I do not blame him because he consistently makes tough shots. He is a bucket-getter at every single level. His midrange game is the best part of his offensive bag. He can hit shots with a hand in his face and creates space without using many moves or dribbles. He played the game with some high competitive passion.

Kowalczyk is coming off a summer that he dealt with an injury so was not able to play a full summer of aau but I don’t think he will start off slow at all. He plays with a high level of confidence that he will want to remind everyone that he is one of the best scorers in not only the area but also the state. He has the size and length that makes his shots tough to contest but he combats your good defense with a knack for hitting tough shots. He has a great mid-range game. He likes to put the ball on the floor once or twice and gets to his spot well. I expect the Titans to feed him this year and lean on his scoring ability to take them far.

Kowalczyk started to talk about this time last year, and due to some injury over the summer, he will try to remind everyone who he is. He has strong scoring ability and improving athleticism. He excels at scoring from various spots, including a reliable mid-range game and improving three-point shot. His length and athleticism enhance his transition play and rim attacks. His playmaking skills are developing, and decision-making and passing will be crucial because he can score anytime he touches the ball.

Kowalcyk is becoming a stud! Every time I see him play he gets better and better. He has gotten better all around and it is due to his athletic leap. He is starting to fill his body out more, is more comfortable using it, and is confident around the rim. There is no hesitation and timidness to his game. He is simply going to go put the ball in the basket. Finishes in traffic and through contact really well. He is dunking it with little to no effort. His inside game has improved the most because of his mindset willing to attack the basket but he also seems more comfortable with his shot. Coming off the hand a bit smoother. The kid is one heck of a player and hasn’t even played his junior year yet.

Kowalczyk’s big breakout season was something that was not surprising to anyone who watched his AAU season last year. He continued that momentum into his high school season. He took on a much bigger role this year for the Titans and excelled. He brought the ability to play inside and out for the Titans. He could be their big guy but be able to play on the wing. He is very skilled and athleticism is coming into the mix for him nicely. He is dunking the ball off vertical easily. He will start to learn how to use all of his tools the older he gets. Once he does that it will be tough to contain him.

The 2026 class in northwest Ohio seems like it has some of the best depth of talent that region of the state has had in a while. Kowalczyk is one of the top players from that 2026 class and proved it again on Tuesday night with a dominant effort. Continuing to grow as an athlete, Kowalczyk threw down a couple dunks with improved explosiveness off the ground. A smart passer, Kowalczyk made the defense pay for sending double teams his way. Another play where Kowalczyk showed his basketball IQ was executing a BLOB for an and-1 layup. Making a couple baseline jumpers, Kowalczyk made a turnaround 15-footer on the first possession and then a corner 3-pointer in the second half to help the Titans pull away. The 3-point shot is something I’m curious to see develop over the next few years for Kowalczyk.
