One of Ohio’s bigger risers from their senior class, Jones has had a stellar senior season for Toledo St John’s. An impressive athlete with good defensive instincts, Jones had a handful of steals and deflections on Saturday. As a driver, Jones is playing with way more confidence than he showed as a Junior and isn’t hesitating when attacking off the dribble. Really impressive to see the confidence spike for Jones from where he was at 12 months ago.

I had been waiting on Jones to take the next step since watching him in the summer heading into his junior season. This winter, Jones has elevated his game on both ends of the floor and become one of the most impactful two-way players in the Toledo area. A big time athlete who can make huge defensive plays, Jones thrives in an up-tempo environment. Also making strides as an offensive player, Jones can attack the rim off the dribble and score. It’s nice to see the light start to click for prospects and sometime in the fall or early winter Jones has elevated his game and earns a big rankings boost in the process.

I’ve been intrigued with Jones flashes and athleticism for a while now and it seems like it’s all starting to click for him as a senior. Jones has taken a big leap as a shooter, taking and making way more 3-pointers this season than I’ve ever seen from him in the past. A strong athlete, Jones had some tough rebounds where he was physical and got up over taller players in the paint. A breakaway slam dunk was an impressive highlight play for a complete performance that showed me Jones is on the right path to becoming an impact college player.

Jones won the MVP of this game because his defense was elite and then put the ball in the basket consistently on offense. He is always tasked with guarding the other teams best offensive guard and he makes their day tough. He did this once again on Friday with his length and athleticism. Then on offense started knocking down shots. He comes off screens and can put the ball on the ground to find his open shot. He has a nice impact on winning for the Titans.

Jones impressed me because of his defense all night long. He is a player that you can put on the other team’s best guard/wing and you can trust him to lock them down. He did exactly that on Tuesday night against Central. He took a high-level player and made him have little impact for most of the game. He is a good physical player and athlete. He has a good wingspan and is a truly selfless player who decided to put a lot of energy on the defensive end to help his team try to get a win.

Jones is a nice player for this Titans squad. He has a nice skill set for a guard who can do some of it all on offense. His size and build make him an effective slasher and finisher around the rim. He has a nice shot and can knock down threes easily. His defense is good as well. He can guard a guard of any size and lock them down.

Jones is an explosive senior guard who is going to take on a bigger role for the St. John’s Titans this upcoming year. He will be able to do this because of his confidence and ability to score at a high volume. He has a deep shooting range, quick release, and the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. He is very good at creating space and switching speeds. He had one of his better showings last year at this event and I expect him to ball out again.

A prospect I caught on the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer, Jones got added to our rankings after a strong showing at the Toledo Top 64. With a good first step and able to attack a closeout from the wing and knock down an open shot, Jones is a prospect who could be a name you hear a lot more about when he’s playing 17 U. Toledo St John’s has also been flying a little under the radar, as the Titans are currently unbeaten against in-state opponents. Could they make another surprise playoff run this March?

Jones is coming off a scorching hot off-season. He is someone who was not much of a role for St. John’s last year but will be a vital player for them this year and he is ready for it. He has phenomenal size and athleticism for a guard. He can guard every position on the perimeter and even hold his own on the inside. He is also a sneaky good rebounder. He can go and get the ball at its high point. Jones is also a skilled wing. He has good moves to create space for himself. This gives him space to get his smooth jumper off. Jones will be important for St. John’s on both ends of the floor this year.
