Peyton can flat out shoot the ball. As a freshman he’ll have the ability to act as a floor stretcher for his team, as he has a pretty quick release and isn’t waivered by a closing out defender. He looks poised on the ball, with the ability to handle it and make quick decisions while under pressure. On the defensive end I thought he did a nice job of getting in a good contest whenever his man shot the ball, and I believe he got a hand on a pair of jump shots to help his team pick up stops. Was on the Rosemount varsity roster as just an 8th grader last winter.
Highlights
Cronin has one of the highest ceilings in the 2027 class, as he has the physical tools you rarely see in a young prospect. He already stands at 6’6+ with a very long wingspan, has fluid mobility in the open floor, and can absolutely take flight at the rim. That bounce showed as he sprinted ahead in transition, caught a deep pass, and without even dribbling took off to throw down a dunk over a defender. His jumper wasn’t falling in the game that I watched, but from watching him previously I’ve seen he’s a capable shooter from three. In the half-court he keeps the ball moving, makes smart decisions with the ball, and doesn’t try to force his own offense when it isn’t there. On the defensive end he’ll have the tools to guard multiple spots, and his long frame can cause havoc in passing lanes.
Jaylan got off to a strong start against a tough Hopkins team. He has a promising frame with a long wingspan and solid lateral quickness out on the perimeter. I thought he did a nice job handling it under intense pressure when he put the ball on the floor, and was at his best as a catch-and-shoot threat. Able to quickly get his feet squared up to get off a shot from three where he was connecting at a high rate during the first half. Got a bit quiet during the second half, as some of his teammates got going, but his first half shooting was a big reason TG was in this game until the very end.
At 6’10, Jack is clearly going to stand out immediately with his size on the basketball court. Even at his height, he comes into high school with a solid skill-set as well. Going up against a 6’8 senior, Jack was establishing deep post position and showed some impressive footwork to get into his left-handed hook shot. With how high he releases the ball at, that shot is going to be nearly impossible to block. I thought he showed good court awareness as well to kick the ball out if a double-team came in.
Baboucarr made the biggest play of the game against Rosemount, as he chased down a teammate’s miss and put it back up to give Maple Grove the win at the buzzer. He has a long and athletic frame as a freshman, and it’s that effort that’s going to give him a chance for minutes this year. He didn’t have a big role on the offensive end, but used his length to get up in passing lanes and compete for rebounds on defense. One to watch over the next few years as his best basketball lies ahead.

Tyler struggled to find his finishing touch against St. Thomas Academy, but showcased his feel for the game and passing vision that make him a promising point guard prospect. His pace on the ball and ability to make reads at his age is very impressive, and I thought he dished out some nice passes in transition to set up his teammates for easy buckets. On the defensive end he has the potential to be a lockdown defender with his lateral quickness and ability to fight over screens.
