This week we will be headlining the sophomore class. Here are six under the radar sophomore prospects to keep eyes on.
The 6-1 sophomore combo guard is a floor general who can create when he has the basketball in his hands. McFadden plays with an unselfish knack in finding his teammates to knock down open shots. On the defensive end, McFadden is very versatile where he can guard multiple positions and has continued to improve his footwork. He is an ultimate competitor on the offensive end where he can score on all three levels. He currently holds offers from Cal-State Bakersfield and NJIT.
The 6-8 sophomore power forward has a good combination skillset whether it’s size, length or athleticism. He is a sensational rebounder who is very active on both ends of the floor where he can finish put-backs and absorb contact. On the defensive end, Triplett can defend positions 1 through 5 at a high level as he has good footwork and is quick for his size where he can contest shots out on the perimeter. His handle out on the perimeter has continued to improve as he is starting to feel more comfortable on the offensive end.

The 6-4 guard has proven he can be a big-time prospect as he plays with a ton of strength and confidence when he has the basketball in his hands. Jones is a strong finisher around the rim as well as displaying great court vision on the offensive end. On the defensive end, Jones is very versatile where he can guard on the ball or off the ball at a high level becoming a disruptor in the passing lanes. He is also a solid rim protector and shot blocker using his length to contest shots at the front of the rim. Jones currently holds an offer from Stetson University which will not be his last offer either.

The 6-0 sophomore guard has one of the highest IQ’s I’ve seen. Ambrose doesn’t light up the scoreboard with his scoring, but he is a crafty passer where he gets his teammates good looks to score. Ambrose plays smooth when he is around the rim and is unafraid to finish while absorbing contact from stronger defenders. On the defensive end, Ambrose is quick and shifty where he can stay in front of opposing guards limiting the opposition from getting a solid shot off.

The 6-1 sophomore combo guard has good length and is quick when he has the basketball in his hands. Payton can score on all three levels whether it’s around the rim, mid-range or shooting from the perimeter. On the defensive end, Payton can guard on-the-ball as well as off-the-ball at a high level where he applies good pressure and is active in the passing lanes. He can get steals and strips which lead to transition points on the offensive end where his ability to finish on both sides of the rim have continued to improve.
Aaron McGee
Aaron McGee
The 6-1 sophomore shooting guard displayed a ton of confidence and creativity on the offensive end of the floor this spring and summer. He is a dynamic shooter from beyond the arc where he can occasionally pull up from 4-5 feet past the arc and knock it down with confidence. On the defensive end, McGee plays with a ton of activity where his footwork has continued to improve as well. His athleticism where he can guard on the interior has also improved and is poised to have a big sophomore season this year. Keep an eye on McGee as he will be an intriguing prospect to keep eyes on the next three years.
