Two things that immediately stood out when watching Luka play were his improved confidence and new-found assertiveness. The skills and potential were always clear in the 6’7 forward, but as a junior he looks to be much more aggressive with the ball. Against Arrowhead he was taking smaller forwards to work on the block, able to back his way into deep position and then utilize his footwork to create an angle to finish. Also posed a threat from beyond the arc as a pick & pop shooter. If forwards were able to keep him off the block, Luka showed the skill level to catch, face up, and then attack off the dribble. Such a skilled player at his size who’s able to capitalize on anything the defense gives him.
Rashaad Davis has the level of quickness that makes other quick guards look slow. He can simply run circles around defenders with the ball in his hands. Davis got Nicolet off to a strong start as they went on to win big against Dominican, repeatedly getting to the rim with no defender having an answer for him. Davis was able to take defensive rebounds or outlet passes and fly up the floor to give his team a numbers advantage. Knows when to kick it out to a shooter or when to keep it and finish on his own. No fear going up against size and he knows how to touch it in high off the glass to avoid getting his shots blocked.
Highlights
Jamarion had a quiet first half, but really came alive down the stretch when MAS needed him against Arrowhead. He looks a bit more explosive than he did as a sophomore, and it showed as he was able to turn the corner on the baseline and elevate for an explosive dunk. Batemon has a quick trigger from three that makes him a dangerous catch-and-shoot guy running off screens, but he also showed the instincts to put the ball on the floor with his defender chasing him. Made smart reads in transition that helped his team pick up some high percentage looks at the rim.
Trey Resch Trey Resch 6’2″ | CG Arrowhead | 2027 State WI certainly doesn’t play like a freshman. Going up against two of the best teams in the state in MAS and Pewaukee, he showed no signs of fear. He was keeping Arrowhead in it with Pewaukee in the first half seemingly on his own at times as he was simply on fire in the first half. Whether it was knocking down a shot immediately off the catch, or blowing by a bad closeout into a one dribble pull-up, his jumper simply wasn’t missing. Makes smart reads with the ball and has the quick decision making ability you rarely see in underclassmen.
Highlights
Nick Janowski Nick Janowski 6’3″ | SG Pewaukee | 2024 State #126 Nation WI was handing out buckets in a win over Arrowhead. He was his usual self getting his defender on an island and effortlessly creating separation before knocking down a jumper. He’s able to make those flashy plays, but also keeps it simple with some hard off ball cuts leading to easy lay-ups. One thing that really stood out was his vocal leadership. Pewaukee has a lot of lost production from last season, and his leadership could be key in helping some of the new players step up. Fiery competitor who comes out and produces every time he’s on the floor.
Davion was a walking highlight in the win over Dominican. He showed off his explosive athleticism with a windmill dunk in the second half, as well as an alley-oop slam in the first after cutting hard to the basket. Showcased his dangerous mid-range game as he knocked down a few shots in a row in the second half. At 6’6 he’s able to break his man down off the dribble with his smooth handle. With the type of elevation he gets and his high release point, it’s extremely difficult for any defender at the high school level to get a good contest on his shot. Strong rebounder and very versatile defender as well.
Devin Brown Devin Brown 6’7″ | PF Milwaukee Academy Of Science | 2025 State #196 Nation WI put on a show helping lead MAS to a win over Arrowhead. He’s such an explosive athlete and simply runs the floor harder than his opponent. That effort to sprint rim-to-rim helps open up a couple of dunking opportunities just about every game he plays. Devin effortlessly gets off the floor to dunk just about everything inside, and his bounce also helps him dominate the glass as a rebounder. Hard worker off the ball to allow himself to get open looks without needing to dribble.
