There aren’t many wings/forwards in the state who can compete physically with Micah Curtis Micah Curtis 6’6″ | PF St. Louis Park | 2025 State MN . He stands at 6’6+ with a strong and explosive frame. In the two games I watched he was taking defenders into the post and scoring with brute force, while also showcasing a quick spin move to beat them baseline and then explode off two feet. Micah looks like his handle has gotten a bit tighter as well allowing him to create more on the perimeter. Defensively he has the versatility to guard in the paint or on the wing. One thing that really stood out about Micah was his vocal leadership as well. He was in constant communication with his teammates on the floor, particularly when getting set on the defensive end.
Daveion helped lead Hopkins past Breck with his contributions on both ends of the floor. Even at 6’4 he’s been one of the best shot blockers I’ve seen all fall, as he’s an explosive athlete and has great timing sliding over to make plays at the rim. Whether he’s chasing guys down in transition or being in good position in the half-court, he’s a big time shot blocker. Offensively he’s a three point threat when given too much space, but is at his best getting out in transition where he’s an impressive finisher at the rim.
Newton was a big reason why Breck was in it until the end with Hopkins. He seems to improve a bit every time I see him play, and against Hopkins he was a big time floor stretcher. At 6’4 he offers good size on the wing, and was constantly sliding into space off the ball looking to receive a kick-out pass. Always had his hands ready to shoot and it allowed him to beat the closeout even when defended by length. Playing alongside one of the state’s best guard duos, his ability to stretch the floor should help give them more room to operate.

In a game that featured two of the state’s premier freshmen, Izayah impressed with his level of skill at 6’4. He changes directions so smoothly at his size, with a quick crossover to beat his man off the dribble. Even when being defended by a smaller player he was able to get his shoulder in front of his man, and keep him pinned against his hip to get to the rim. Once there he was able to utilize his strong frame to shield off his man and extend to finish. You don’t see a lot of guys his size taking defenders off the dribble like Izayah can, which is even more impressive when you consider he’s still just a freshman.
Totino-Grace was subbing in lineups in equal intervals, so Isaiah wasn’t on the floor as much as some of the other prospects on this list. That wasn’t enough to stop him from making his presence felt though. Isaiah’s change of direction at 6’7 is very impressive, and he’s able to get to the rim in a limited amount of steps/dribbles. So good at covering a large distance in a single stride before exploding to finish at the rim. Threw down some impressive dunks and flashed his post-footwork. In for a big senior season.

Whereas Micah was a bit more dominant getting to the rim, Marley was flashing his potential on the perimeter. He was showcasing his ability to create some separation off the dribble and also knocking down shots from beyond the arc. Smooth jumper for his size at around 6’6. Curtis also found some success running the floor hard leading to a few transition dunks across the two games I saw. Helped lead his team to a 2-0 record against Blaine and Sartell.

Abu excels at scoring the ball without needing to dribble. Against Edina he was doing a good job of cutting off the ball, and just beating his man backdoor to the rim. Able to find pockets of space, and with a talented passer running the point, he’s likely going to end up with the ball right under the rim. Possesses a 6’5 frame with explosive athleticism that makes him tough to stop in the paint. Rebounding presence on the defensive end who’s capable of defending in the paint or out on the wing.
