So instead, I’m opting to break down prospects by area. Here’s a look at the top players in Central Kentucky, not including Louisville. Essentially the 5th and 8th regions.
Brett is a big time scoring guard who is among the best shooters in the state. Largely overlooked because he committed early to Liberty, Decker is a talented all around player and is probably the best player to have played at Central Hardin.
Highlights
Already off the board to Ohio, Ayden is a talented big at 6’9″ and is going to get better at the next level. Evans was a difference maker for E-town last season and will look to get them back to Rupp Arena in his Senior season.
Recently committed to Holy Cross, Max has been a breakout player over the last few seasons for Oldham County. A pure scorer who is also an above average passer, Green is likely the best player in the always talented 8th region.
If this list were based only off of scholarship offers, Weis would be at the top by a large margin. While he’s not quite as effective a player as those ahead of him, Gabe is a big time talent and one of the top overall prospects in the state, regardless of class.
Highlights
Now at Adair County after spending 2 years at Collins, Cochran is a mismatch for opponents thanks to his ability to shoot from distance as well as an advanced skill set in the post.
Blakeman has been one of the biggest scorers in the 2025 class over the last few years and been the go to player for Green County since he first put on the Dragon jersey. Capable of getting to the rim or getting hot from three, Hayden is a top player in the 5th region.
While Gabe Weis Gabe Weis 6’8″ | PF Montverde Academy | 2026 State FL has seen his recruiting take off recently, Beau Baker Beau Baker 6’7″ | PF Washington County | 2024 State KY is actually the go to player for Washington County for one more season. A bruiser on the low block, Beau can score around the bucket or he can stretch out past the elbow with a jump shot.
Highlights
Overlooked as a top player in the 8th, Luke has been a big time scorer for the Bears for the past few seasons and is capable of scoring the ball from anywhere on the court. Erhadt plays hard and with a chip on his shoulder and could have Spencer County ready to make a run at Rupp.
Erhardt’s running mate in the Spencer County backcourt, Camden is primarily a shooter. He makes threes at a high clip and will pull up from anywhere across half court. Cox and Erhadt will be tough to beat this season.
Highlights
Layken is the leading scorer for a loaded Taylor County team that has aspirations of making the trip to Rupp Arena in March. Lyons has the full toolkit when it comes to offensive skills and will combine with Jackson Wise Jackson Wise 6’1″ | PG Taylor County | 2024 State KY and C.J. Taylor to make a formidable backcourt for the Cardinals.
