Prep Hoops Florida is your year-round source of high school and grassroots basketball coverage from across the state. Here are some 2025 forwards I’m excited to see take the floor this season.
Zay Mosley, A 6-7 junior forward who is strong, athletic and does a great job rebounding on both ends of the floor. He has also added a smooth touch from the perimeter on the offensive end where he can score off the bounce as well as off the catch. Mosley also adds a smooth inside-post game where he can score effectively around the rim whether it’s on the block or his dunking ability. Look for Mosley to play with more confidence scoring across all three levels this upcoming season. Mosley holds offers from Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville and Stetson University.
Sean Standifer, A 6-5 junior wing has a very quick release to his shot where he can score off the swing pass or off the bounce. He adds a smooth inside game as well where he can score against bigger defenders using his strength around the rim. He also is a smooth rebounder for his size where he can push the basketball in transition along with bringing a strong IQ to his game. On the defensive end, he has a knack where he can guard multiple positions as his footwork out on the perimeter continues to improve. Look for Standifer to start hearing from college coaches as his junior season approaches.
Gavin Tinsley
Gavin Tinsley
Gavin Tinsley, A 6-7 junior forward who transferred from Armwood to Plant City has a smooth inside-out game where he can score from the low post or expand his game out to near the 3-point line. He has quick feet where he can catch lobs at the front of the rim as well as finish off put-backs. On the defensive end, Tinsley plays with a ton of length where he rebounds exceptionally well and is quick to get the ball ahead. He is also great at challenging shots out on the perimeter as well as guarding bigger players as he plays with a ton of physicality. Expecting Tinsley to have a big junior season and could gain some interest from D-2 college coaches by the spring.
Mario Forbes Mario Forbes 6’7″ | PF St. John Paul II | 2025 State FL , A 6-7 junior forward who still has a lot of growth left in his game but I was very impressed with Forbes this summer. He has a smooth inside-out game where he can score out on the block as well as in the mid-range. Forbes is also a relentless rebounder where he can score off put-backs as well as off the catch as he can play above the rim. On the defensive side, Forbes does a great job challenging shots around the rim as well as playing with a ton of physicality where he can defend the paint without fouling.
Gabe Stewart Jr, A 6-9 junior forward shows a lot of promise heading into his junior season, after spending the summer playing for the Puerto Rican U16 National Team. Stewart has no problem when it comes to finishing around the rim through traffic as he plays under control and doesn’t tend to make many mistakes on the offensive end. He also has great hands where he can catch tough passes as well as finish from the outside when left with space. On the defensive end, Stewart does a great job at staying in the paint crashing the boards playing with a ton of strength and physicality. He is also an above-average athlete where he can make plays happen on both ends of the floor.
