Ben Forbes
Ben Forbes
Ben Forbes looks like a player who could really start to emerge in the 2025 class. During his sophomore season he averaged 2.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, but really stood out on Wednesday night. He’s a long and lanky big man who showed some solid mobility sliding into position to make plays as a shot blocker. Quick leap allowed him to get off the floor and alter/swat shots consistently throughout the game. On the offensive end he fought for putback buckets and put himself in the right spots off the ball to catch dump-off passes and quickly elevate for a few dunks.
The freshman guard showed no fear going up against older competition, and came out firing in game two. Even at his young age he played with impressive pace on the ball, lulling defenders to sleep before exploding by them with a quick crossover. Showed comfort driving in either direction as well as the touch to finish with either hand at the rim from different angles. Wasn’t forcing his game, but when he noticed a lane he was quick to attack and make the defense pay for giving him an angle to the basket.
Ty had a quiet first half during the final game of the day, but absolutely lit up the opposing team in the second half with an impressive scoring display. He was dribbling up the floor and pulling up from three with his picture-perfect release to put points up, but also showcased a creative handle to beat his man to the rim. Has excellent touch to finish off the glass from a variety of angles. Already a 1,000 point scorer for his high school, Ty looks primed for a huge senior year.
Thian had some moments of dominance in the opening game. He’s incredibly fluid off the dribble at 6’4+, and uses his long stride to cover a lot of ground in order to get to the basket quickly. Defenders of all sizes had a difficult time keeping him away from the basket, and once there he had no problem elevating for dunk after dunk. Major transition threat as well because he can handle the ball on his own, but also sprints up the floor consistently to create some wide open looks when the defense is slow to get back.
Highlights
Jacob was another player who had a quiet first half but really turned it on when it mattered. Since his shot wasn’t falling in the first, he started scrapping around the basket for offensive rebounds and physical finishes. He has a strong frame for a sophomore and it was allowing him to finish off some tough looks through contact. Once he saw a few shots drop, he was back out on the perimeter where he knocked down a few threes. Iced the game at the free throw line down the stretch to help his team win.
Dante is such an impressive athlete, and it shows with his ability to explode to the basket and finish in a variety of ways. He has such a quick burst with the ball in his hands to blow by his initial defender and get to the basket. Also showcased the ability to slow up and score with a floater when defenders were able slide into position on time. Defensively has no problem pressuring the ball on the perimeter with his lateral quickness, and he also had a big block at the rim. Looks ready to step up into a much bigger role for a Middleton team that graduated a strong 2023 class.
