For the past month, top players from Delaware, PA, and NJ have routinely swarmed to the 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington and Friday night things came to a head. Season 8 of the Check Rock League was as thrilling as ever. Here's how it went down:

League MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='1608258' first='DeShawn' last='Yates'] | 5'9 G 2026

Deshawn took home the MVP trophy

3-Point Contest Winner: [player_tooltip player_id='2364682' first='Kiyen' last='Alexander']| 5'7 G 2027

Kiyen is a pure shooter who can get it done pulling up or running off of a screen. So him getting uncontested looks while spotting up was no sweat. The youngest one in the competition, the lights weren't too bright.

Dunk Contest Winner: [player_tooltip player_id='2347418' first='Aiden' last='Tobiason'] | 6'5 W 2024

Earning 1st-team league honors and participating in the 3-point contest as well, Aiden wrapped up his Check Rock Szn 8 run with incredible displays of athleticism. He sealed his win with one dunk underneath his legs and one 360.

Game Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='1460800' first='Jordan' last='Ellerbee'] | 6'1 G 2025 B'ay Ray

It was Ellerbee's intensity from start to finish that set the tone for B'ay Ray's victory. In one sequence, he blocked a shot, got the rebound, pushed it up the floor, then threw an oop to his SJP teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1202209' first='Jalen' last='Harper']. Jordan got buckets for himself too, hitting shots from all over the floor as he led all scorers with 20 points. He added 3 rebounds and 2 steals to the stat sheet too.

Emmanuel Joe-Samuel | 6'4 W 2025 B'ay Ray

Manny literally came out firing on all cylinders. He scored 13 of their first 18 points. Three catch-and-shoot jumpers from deep, a lay, and a pull-up middy were all he needed to give his squad an early lead.

[player_tooltip player_id='1613878' first='RJ' last='Smith'] | 5'8 G 2026 House of Wright

RJ led the charge in the second half as his team surged back from a double-digit deficit. Despite being undersized, he put defenders on his hip and powered his way to his spots offensively. Defensively, it was the same thing. He racked up 2 steal and a block, in addition to the 16 points he scored.

[player_tooltip player_id='2352451' first='Latrell' last='Wright'] | 5'10 G 2026 House of Wright

More than "just a kid from Delaware," Trell played with a sense of urgency in front of the home crowd. His scoring kept them afloat in the first half as he got to the cup for tough layups in traffic. He also maximized his trips to the charity stripe, finishing with 15 points.
