Today, we will be starting with our top five shooting guards in the Class of 2025. Our latest rankings for the junior class have been updated on our website.
The 6-5 junior guard is a highly talented two-way prospect who can make havoc on both ends of the floor. Lloyd has a combination skillset of scoring off the bounce and off the catch. He brings a smooth presence where he can score at the front of the rim as well as from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, Lloyd is very active in the passing lanes where he averaged nearly two steals per game for Westminster Academy last season as a sophomore. He also has good passing and ball-handling skills for his size.
The 6-6 junior combo guard is at his best when he is finishing on the attack at the front of the rim. Wimbley utilizes his energy to make things happen on both ends of the floor whether it’s blocking a shot on one end or finishing with a furious dunk on the other. Wimbley plays with a ton of quickness for his size and has a heavy dose of athleticism. He is an underrated on-the-ball defender where he can guard out on the perimeter and force the opposition into taking tough shots.
The 6-5 junior guard made a name for himself this summer while playing for SOH Elite , as he can knock down shots across all three levels. Liburd has a heavy skillset on both ends of the floor as he plays with a ton of physicality and frustrate the opposition with his quickness. He finishes effectively on both sides of the rim at a high level as well as a high-percentage rebounder. He should have college coaches on his radar heading into his junior season where he displays a great IQ and feel for the game.
Tate Darner is one of the sharpest perimeter shooters in the state for the junior class. Darner plays at a high level where he can occasionally run the point guard position with his high IQ. He has a knack for knocking down open shots at a high percentage as well as defend at a high level. Last season as a sophomore, Darner averaged 13.2 points per game and knocked down nearly three 3-pointers per game. Darner holds offers from Le Moyne, Stetson and Youngstown State so far in the early stages of his recruitment process.
The 6-4 junior shooting guard has a versatile skillset whether it’s his shooting or passing ability. Standifer has a knack for finishing at the front of the rim as well as scoring from the perimeter. Standifer is also considered to be an underrated rebounder and is quick to get the ball up the floor for his size. He is very consistent on the defensive end where he can guard on-the-ball as well as off the ball at a high level jumping into the passing lanes where he can get steals and make hustle plays. Last season as a sophomore, Standifer averaged nearly six points per game and shot 35 percent from beyond the arc.
