Throughout the day, various classes competed in a showcase game. In the second game that I watched, prospects from the 2026 class faced off against 2027 prospects. Here are a few names that stood out.
Kamauri Lawson Kamauri Lawson 5'9" | PG St. Frances | 2026 State MD | St. Frances ’26
I expect Lawson to take on a much bigger role for the Panthers this season as the primary ball-handler. The 5-foot-9 point guard is tough-nosed and fearless to make up for whatever size that he lacks. He’ll get after you defensively and be the sole reason that turnovers take place thanks to his pressure and active hands. On Saturday he was attacking the rim while embracing contact in the air before finishing tough lay-ups.
Carlos Ferguson | McDonogh ’27
I was introduced to Ferguson over the summer during the EBA Summer League. He has great positional size standing 6-foot-3 and brings fluidity as a shot creator off the bounce. The southpaw guard initiated plenty for his team on Saturday and set the tone as the primary playmaker.
Diego Joy | Lanham Christian ’26
Joy popped onto my radar a little late this summer, but I was glad that I caught him playing for New World 15U when I did. He’s a guard who can play on or off the ball and brings balance as a shooter or creator for others. He has good feel on drives getting into the paint as a decision-maker, but Saturday he made his impact by moving without the ball and converting on catch-and-shoot three’s.
Kenneth Anthony II Kenneth Anthony II 6'9" | PF Mount St. Joseph | 2027 State MD | Mount St. Joe ’27
Other than the short stints during DMV Live, this was one of my first times watching Anthony on the floor play extended minutes. He’s a mobile big at 6’7-6’8 who moves well for his size and age. He scores with soft touch around the basket and is a disruptive presence in the paint defensively. Anthony’s overall skill set is still a work in progress, but most bigs take time to reach their potential. The fact that he has all of the necessary tools and makeup mean he will be a fun prospect to watch develop over the years.
Tristen Wilson Tristen Wilson 6'4" | SG Mt. Carmel | 2026 State MD | Mount Carmel ’26
Wilson set the gym on fire with his late game one-handed poster dunk on a defender. The 6-foot-3 guard’s progress over the last 6-to-8 months itself has been something I’ve noted and has him set to be an immediate impact guard for Mount Carmel’s new head coach Tony Martin. Wilson brings an intriguing combination of sound positional size, budding athleticism and a natural ability to create his own looks.
