Bishop Gorman high school was crawling with media, writers, scouts and NBA personnel for the opening night games. We were able to watch two of the three courts – four games total – on Sunday night which featured a good amount of California-based prospects. Here’s how they did.
Brannon Martinsen Brannon Martinsen 6'7" | SF Mater Dei | 2026 State CA-S , 2026, Mater Dei
Martisen was one of a handful of 2026 prospects who earned an invite to the camp and he was efficient with his minutes and his touches. The 6-foot-7 forward scored nine points on 3-for-5 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. What we liked most about Martinsen was that he didn’t change his game to fit the mold of the camp but rather played to his strengths and impacted the game in a variety of ways.
Brayden Burries Brayden Burries 6'4" | SF Roosevelt | 2025 State #13 Nation CA-S , 2025, Roosevelt
I liked Burries’ approach to the game as he looked to get teammates involved early while slowly working himself into a groove offensively. The strong, physical and athletic wing showed his versatility as he scored nine points with six rebounds and two assists. Burries’ ability to impact multiple facets of the game at 6-feet-5 is what makes him such a highly sought after prospect.
Elzie Harrington Elzie Harrington 6'5" | PG St. John Bosco | 2025 State #25 Nation CA-S , 2025, St. John Bosco
Harrington has been having a good spring and summer so far and he carried the momentum of the EYBL circuit into the opening night of the Pangos Camp. The 6-foot-5 point guard scored 12 points on 5-for-9 from the field and 2-for-4 from three-point range. What I’ve always liked most about Harrington’s game is what he did best as he dished out six assists to one turnover in leading his team to a win.
Eric Freeny Eric Freeny 6'5" | SG Corona Centennial | 2024 State #73 Nation CA-S , 2024, Corona Centennial
The one aspect of Freeny’s game that I’ve been waiting to become more consistent is his perimeter shooting and, if the Sunday night was any indication, the 6-foot-4 guard has been putting in work on that aspect of his game. Freeny scored 14 points and knocked down 4 of 6 from three-point range while leading his team to a big win.
