About Brannon
Expert Analysis
Paul Hernandez | Prep Hoops Scout
Martinsen is a skilled and sharp-shooting player that can score the ball from 3-levels, makes good decisions with the ball in hand, and takes what the defense gives him. The 6-foot-7 stretch-four has quality handles, uses the crossover, behind cross, and the pro-hop to get his defender off balance, has touch on shots around the basket with the reverse of Euro-step lay-ups to get space from bigs in the paint, and is accurate with the jumper from the mid-range to the 3-point line, off the bounce or the catch. Martinsen is a tough assignment for opposing defenses in the ball-screen action, as he can hit shots off the pop, along with good timing and hands to receive passes rolling to the basket, where he can score with finesse or throw down some power dunks. Martinsen is an underrated rim protector that can block/alter shots in the paint, as well as the agility to step out and contest perimeter shots, crashes the boards with the handle to push the rock, and has the court vision to make reads up the court or in the half-court setting to players cutting off the ball. Martinsen had a solid stat-line in the win over ABC-Prep, with 17 points, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
