Saturday at the IBCA/IHSAA Charlie Hughes Showcase is a very, very long day. However, there aren't many better ways to spend a day than watching Indiana High School Basketball for over 12 straight hours. With boots on the ground at Carmel High School from tip-off to the final buzzer there is plenty to unpack from the 10 rounds of games. Let's dive on in and empty out the notebook from all of Saturday's action.

Future is Bright at Plainfield

Small college programs across the state of Indiana and the Midwest are very interested in 5'10" rising senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1384422' first='Eli' last='Ellis'] and 6'6" rising senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1578369' first='Collin' last='Schmidt']. Both of those prospects have been solid for the Quakers this weekend. However, it was the younger guys who really stood out on Saturday morning in a win over Chesterton. 6'6" rising sophomore wing [player_tooltip player_id='1561513' first='Noah' last='Smith'] has proven to be one of the state's best Class of 2026 prospects. His versatility and fluid athleticism really stand out for his size at a young age. Incoming freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2267048' first='Harper' last='Baker-Lands'] is another name to remember. He is a 6'2" ball handler that plays through contact, doesn't get sped up, and finishes well at the end of his drives. Really impressive poise for a player who has yet to compete in a high school game. [player_tooltip player_id='1561612' first='Trey' last='Barton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1560946' first='Landon' last='Gilliatt'] are two more Quakers to know in that Class of 2026.

Scottsburg "Big 3" Takes Down Carmel

The Warriors are playing a bit short-handed with only six players dressed this weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase, but it didn't stop them from beating Carmel 54-51 on Saturday morning. 6'5" rising senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1276470' first='Jack' last='Miller'] was excellent for Scottsburg using his size and athletic ability to score it in the mid-range. He does a great job of turning his drive into post moves and hitting the little pull-up jumper. When he plays off of two feet in the paint it is hard to handle. Meanwhile, 6'3" rising senior point guard Koby Clancy set the table for his teammates with excellent court vision and passing ability. He is a high-IQ lead guard that consistently made the right play. 6'8" rising senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1578484' first='Wyatt' last='Zellers'] certainly turned some heads of those in attendance as well with a couple of tough catch-and-shoot 3's. The tall left is a really intriguing prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297118' first='Trent' last='Sisley'] vs. [player_tooltip player_id='1560945' first='Dezhon' last='Hall'] Lives Up to the Hype

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo and several others were in attendance for this one featuring one of Indiana's top Class of 2025 prospects against one of Indiana's top Class of 2026 prospects. Tindley got the better of the team matchup as they came away victorious, but 6'8" 4-star forward [player_tooltip player_id='1297118' first='Trent' last='Sisley'] was excellent in the loss scoring a game-high 40 points for Heritage Hills. He is just so skilled at his size scoring with a variety of perimeter shots, interior finishes, and everything in between. As for [player_tooltip player_id='1560945' first='Dezhon' last='Hall'], the dynamic left-handed guard scored 31 points for Tindley while consistently getting to the rim off of the bounce.

Brownsburg Outlasts Fort Wayne Wayne

If this game would have been just a couple of minutes longer the Generals might have been able to complete the comeback and steal a victory. However, Brownsburg held on for a 63-60 win despite a furious fourth quarter flurry from Wayne rising senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1578417' first='Jevon' last='Lewis']. The 5'9" lefty scored 11 of his game-high 28 points in the final period, including a late 4-point play, but it wasn't enough for the Generals. For Brownsburg, Purdue commit [player_tooltip player_id='1275779' first='Kanon' last='Catchings'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1295337' first='Grant' last='Porath'] each scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs to the win. Both of these teams advanced to Semi-State last season and will be Top 10 in Class 4A when the preseason polls come around.

Fishers is the Best Team in the State

We actually had this a week or so ago at Prep Hoops Indiana as we ranked Fishers #1 in our Way Too Early Class 4A Rankings. However, the Tigers should have removed any double this weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. On Saturday they dominated Crown Point in the morning and then dominated Jeffersonville in the afternoon. [player_tooltip player_id='1297052' first='Jalen' last='Haralson'] had a stretch where he dominated with pull-up jump shots in the early second half against the Red Devils. [player_tooltip player_id='2079500' first='Keenan' last='Garner'] started the game off with a top of the key three-pointer and a transition dunk. [player_tooltip player_id='1578471' first='Taden' last='Metzger'] knocked in a three anytime it was kicked to him. Finally, incoming freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2140345' first='Cooper' last='Zachary'] dazzled with his ball handling and playmaking ability. It is only June 24th, but this group looks like a well-oiled machine.

Quick Hitters

[player_tooltip player_id='1158230' first='Cole' last='Hayworth'] (Concordia Lutheran 2024) was excellent in a hard fought 61-58 overtime win against Pike early on Saturday morning. The 6'5" left-handed forward scored 30 points for the Cadets in front of several DII/DIII/NAIA coaches. He has all of the physical and athletic tools you could ask for in a wing/forward at those levels. Hayworth knocked in a couple of good looking three-point shots as well. Catch-and-shoot 3's, driving to finish with his left hand, and rebounding at a high level. This prospect does a little bit of everything.

[player_tooltip player_id='1561449' first='Steven' last='Reynolds III'] (South Bend Washington H.S. 2026) is a really special prospect. There aren't many rising sophomores that process the game as well as he does. You hear a lot about the game "happening fast" for some prospects, well, the game happens slowly for Reynolds. He is an elite passer with excellent vision while having all of the scoring chops you could ask for as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1388408' first='Tre' last='Singleton'] (Jeffersonville H.S. 2025) was a bright spot for the Red Devils in their loss to Fishers on Saturday afternoon. The 6'8" forward has good feet in the post, flashes some passing ability, and isn't afraid to take on contact inside. Mid-major programs in search of a versatile 4-man should be recruiting Singleton.
