The trend of 3&D players has grown in the last couple of years because of how versatile you can be with those skills. Here are my top 3 & D players for the 2024 class.
Williams has a smooth-sailing jump shot that needs very little space to get it off over defenders. He likes the corner-three ball being one of his more consistent shots. Williams has shifty handles allowing him to get anywhere he wants to on the court. He moves laterally well and stays strong in front of his man at all times. His ability to poke the ball free from ball handlers if they try to break him down is excellent.
Highlights
Seals can guard multiple positions and can switch onto anyone because of his 6’4″ size giving his coach lots of flexibility in how to use him. He’s great at timing when to poke the ball loose from ball handlers and will dive after every loose ball. Seals has a high release point which makes it difficult for closing defenders to contest it. He likes the corner and wing three-point shots and has deep range forcing defenses to press higher.
Highlights
Panzini can play every position and can play them well. He is excellent off the catch and shoot with unlimited range. He can even hit the fading out-of-bounds shot from the corner or wing. Panzini moves laterally well and can poke the ball from behind or send your shot off the backboard if you beat him off the dribble. He can guard the perimeter like a guard and protect the paint like a center. At 6’5″ Panzini can shoot over almost anyone.
Frauenheim can score in so many different ways because of his tight and shifty handles allowing him to get to his spots. He has a quick release off the catch and shoot or off the dribble. Frauenheim is in range the second he steps past the half-court line. He has great instincts to pick off passing lanes to start fastbreak opportunities. Frauenheim stays strong and in front of perimeter players and rarely gets beat off the dribble.
Culuko has a fast release point allowing him to shoot over anyone no matter how good the closeout can be. He will look to come off of off-ball screens for catch-and-shoot opportunities from behind the arc. Culuko doesn’t force anything on offense and takes smart selective shots. He can wrap around a ball handler and strip the ball free from behind. Culuko is great at closing out and helping with traps and double teams.
