This series will be broken into multiple articles which will feature various recruits who regional scout Drew Johnson thinks can make an impact at the next level. The main goal for Prep Hoops Florida is to shed light on all student-athletes working day in and day out to earn a spot on a college roster. Our daily coverage is unmatched and we thank all coaches and readers for tuning in.
Standing at 6-foot-7, it was surprising to see the versatile forward Tynan Becker Tynan Becker 6’7″ | SF Sagemont | 2023 State FL still available for Class of 2023 prospects. Becker finished his senior season as Miami Herald’s Class 4A-2A boys’ basketball Player of the Year for Broward County, averaging 14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game with 2.6 steals to add. He has the ideal length and long frame to be a threat at the next level. Combine the lengthy frame with his natural athleticism and pure shooting stroke, it’s tough to see how Becker is still on the boards. College coaches in the state of Florida should take a look away from the transfer portal to find a hidden gem in South Florida.
The 6-foot-5 Wharton product had a productive senior season for the Wildcats, averaging 17.7 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. Karmello Branch Karmello Branch 6’3″ | SF Tampa Catholic | 2023 State FL is a ball player with a well-known game in the Tampa, Florida area. College coaches in South Florida are missing out on a true unsigned gem that can be dangerous at all aspects of the game. Branch has a polished offensive repertoire which consists of a smooth jumper combined with the versatile ability to be a true scoring threat at the next level.
Mason Brown Mason Brown 6’7″ | SF Dwyer | 2023 State FL put together a great senior season to help Dwyer win its fourth ever 6A state championship after finishing the season 29-1. Brown finished the year with 13.3 points per game, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.4 steals to add on the defensive side. The 6-foot-7 combo wing guard has everything you want in a Division I prospect: long and developed frame, can handle the ball well for his size, decent jumper, and can finish strong at the rim to get to the free throw line. The Palm Beach 7A-6A co-player of the year can help out many of the programs in the state of Florida.
