There were some high level games, great individual talent, and plenty of coaches from all levels of college basketball in the stands on Friday night. Let’s quickly dive into the notebook and talk about what we saw in the Bluegrass state.
Three Top Performers
Friday night was one of the better performances I’ve seen out of this intriguing 6’6″ forward. Guess is a 2025 prospect from Warren Central playing up a year with George Hill All Indy 2024 and he scored 19 points in a win over MidPro Academy 2024. Excellent physicality and skill level around the basket.
Progeny 2024 came up short 60-57 against Illinois Flight 2024, but this 6’4″ guard showed out with his elite shooting ability. Haywood finished with 22 points on the back of six three-pointers to lead his team. The Brebeuf Jesuit product is having a breakout spring and his big numbers are turning the heads of college coaches.
Highlights
Howell poured in 21 points in a win for DI Indiana 2024 against All Ohio Cleveland 2024. The 5’7″ point guard is so dynamic with the ball in his hands. He creates separation with excellent ball handling ability paired with quickness to get his shot off. Very good in the intermediate range and out beyond the arc.
Three Stock-Risers
Playing up an age group with George Hill All Indy 2024, this point guard from Richmond High School more than held his own in a win over a talented MidPro Academy 2024 squad. Carpenter is a 6’0″ playmaker with a smooth pull-up jump shot and great court vision. His list of college suitors should continue to grow this spring.
Highlights
Now playing completely healthy and back to his old self, this strong lead guard who has transferred to Ben Davis stood out in a come-from-behind win for 94 Feet Elite 2024 this evening. Flannigan is a really good playmaker off of the bounce that can play through contact and finish at the end of his drives.
Three Under-the-Radar Names
Anytime a 6’10” player walks through the door you are going to at least take a look. Butler has steadily improved over the years as his coordination catches up with his size. He can make an impact on the defensive end, finish around the basket, and rebounds his area. Worth taking a look at this spring and summer for All Area Basketball 2024.
Schindler is one of the top scorers in the South Bend area, but still flies a bit under-the-radar despite having outstanding freshman and sophomore seasons at Riley High School. His bucket-getting mentality was on display on Friday night as he got it done from all three levels with the ball in his hands for 94 Feet Elite 2025.
Highlights
One of the better pure playmakers in the Fort Wayne area, Wallace had his skills on display Friday night at the Grassroots Showcase. He is so quick off of the dribble, a very good passer, and showcases high level leadership qualities. Wallace is a high IQ player that you don’t mind turning the keys over to on the offensive end.
