Charlie Hughes Showcase: Kyler’s Player Notes Part 1

There is no better event on the calendar from an evaluation or recruiting standpoint than the annual IBCA/IHSAA Charlie Hughes Showcase. This past weekend, which was a live evaluation period for Division I college coaches, most of the best teams in the state of Indiana will competed at Carmel and Westfield High Schools for an absolutely excellent three days of basketball. Prep Hoops Indiana had boots on the ground coverage from the opening tip-off to the final buzzer all weekend long. Here are some of my quick player notes from some guys that caught my attention over the weekend.    A stock-riser that I was excited to see during this huge weekend was [player_tooltip player_id='2470635' first='Levi' last='Walker'] of Fishers Indiana. Walker was one of the player that was well-positioned to have a breakout weekend and he may have had just that. He made multiple plays on both ends of the floor and when it comes to his offense, was real impressed with his consistent three point shooter and slashing off the ball.     Yeah, [player_tooltip player_id='2886513' first='Levin' last='Robinson'] is the next great Lawrence North Wildcat I think. This was my first time getting eyes on the incoming freshman small forward and almost immediately I realized just how special of a player he may be. Already great size at 6'4 and knows how to use his length to his advantage on both ends of the floor. Pretty skilled both on and off the ball.     Mari Leggett will get the attention for Blackford almost always but a player for them that I continue to be impressed with for them is 2028 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2791287' first='Rayveon' last='Fetz']. To me, it just how he competes nonstop is what makes me really like him. He is an attacking guard that can also space the floor a bit. Arguably the team's best defender too.     Bloomington South is going to be a sneaky problem and the main reason for that is because of their main guy, 2027 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2470608' first='Duncan' last='Combs']. He may be a football prospect long term, but Combs is just a load to handle on the basketball floor, as well. He plays with such great body control and pace at his size and position and knows how to use his stronger frame to score through contact. Smooth power forward that can be very physical 15ft and in.     Very players had a better weekend than 2029 New Albany point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2888227' first='Karson' last='Stoudemire']. With [player_tooltip player_id='2382148' first='Noah' last='Washington'] still out, this was Stoudemire's time to shine and he did just that. While outside shot was not falling consistently, he still was relentless in the lane and getting any paint touch he wanted. He had a lot college eyes on him throughout the weekend.
