Charlie Hughes Showcase | Logan’s Sunday Standouts

The June Scholastic period for Indiana High School Basketball is coming to an end, but not before the biggest live period event in the state in the Charlie Hughes Showcase. 210 teams and over 350 games from 10:00 am on Friday to 5:00 pm Sunday. I was back in the gym for a jam packed day at Carmel High School on Sunday. Here are Logan's Sunday Standouts from the Charlie Hughes Showcase:    The 6'11” big man out of Brownsburg had it going early often as it was evident the game plan for the Bulldogs was get the ball to him the ball on the blocks and let him go to work. [player_tooltip player_id='2140379' first='Jackson' last='Gordon'] was really good establishing post position and showed his soft touch around the basket over either shoulder. Big time rebounder on both ends of the floor. Paint clogging big that was vocal on that end of the floor while being a solid rim protector that knows how to use his size to his advantage.     Different event, Same [player_tooltip player_id='2539928' first='Quintyn' last='Voltz'] for the Princeton Tigers. The highly touted junior guard is going to have a heavy scoring load put on him and he's up for the challenge. In the parts of two games I saw today, he was dynamic getting in the lane. Plays with wiggle. At time is a tough shot taker, but is one of the elite bucket getters in the Indiana in-state class of 2028 and makes tough shots.     One of the top performers of the weekend, [player_tooltip player_id='2807644' first='Paul' last='Ridgway'] showed why he is one of the state biggest stock risers. The 6'7” 2027 Wing out of Sullivan put up big time numbers in the win over Boonville on Sunday at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. He's an effortless scorer with a high motor. He's inside-out versatile scorer that uses his body to create advantages. Really good in the mid post facing up with the ability to use his height and shoot over the top or use his skillset to put it on the floor and finish at the rim. Fluid athlete that handles it well and showed his ability to shoot from the perimeter off the dribble and off the catch.     The lengthy 6'4” Senior guard put on an absolute show in the Trojans win over Princeton on the Carmel Main Floor at Charlie Hughes on Sunday. Effortless scorer that's comfortable playing on and off the ball. Plays through contact well on drives and did a good job playing off two feet and utilizing shot fakes in the lane before scoring. Incredible athlete that made the gym erupt when he drove down the lane and dunked on basically the entire Princeton team. Fluid athlete that showed his impact on both ends of the floor throughout the game with active hands on the ball and rebounding his position.     My first time getting to see the talented 6'7” 2029 Wing for Frankton and came away extremely impressed. Long and lanky wing, [player_tooltip player_id='2617851' first='Ashton' last='Brobston'] exceeded every expectation I had for him heading into the game I saw of his on Sunday. Really nice floor game. Intriguing court vision for his size. Didn't make a three, but was clearly comfortable taking shots from beyond the three-point line. Showed a really good handle for 6'7”. Was able to keep the defender away and not get sped up. He's a bit thin at this stage, but a young prospect that will continue to grow into his body. Has the potential to be a big time versatile defender. Not the most fluid athlete, but showed he was capable of guarding multiple positions and has intriguing rim protection potential. Definitely a prospect to keep an eye on heading into his sophomore season.
