The athletic combo guard out of Center Grove is a player that caught my attention in an open gym back in the fall, and seeing him play in person as well as multiple times on stream, Laney is a kid that I absolute love what I have seen out of him. He’s a blend of production and potential. Fluid athlete that impacts the game on both sides of the ball. Constantly in attack mode with his scoring ability from all over the floor. Capable three-point shooter while not forcing anything and taking what the defense gives him. Relentless when he’s getting down hill and has shown the ability to play above the room. Expect his stock to rise heading into his senior season.

On the Center Grove side vs Pike, it was a more balanced effort for the Trojans but the one guy that really stood out to me was their leading scorer,

. The junior guard has a long frame to him but is ultra aggressive when he needs to be. He stated off the game with an ice reverse baseline layup then hit a big corner three to give Center Grove some momentum. If Laney is clicking on the floor, Trojans will always have a shot.

Athletic two-guard that showed up when the lights were the brightest. Hard downhill driver with wiggle on the perimeter. Uses his body well and can stay on balance through contact while finishing with either hand around the basket. Capable three-point shooter that is really good off the catch when his feet are set. Aggressive defender in the passing lanes looking for a steal to get out so he can put on a show above the rim in transition.

One of a couple of sophomores to emerge in the rotation for Center Grove last season, Laney averaged 4.8 points per game. The athletic 6’3″ guard has excellent physical tools and positional size on the perimeter. He drives it hard and finishes well up around the rim. Look for him to have a big junior season for what should be an improved Center Grove team. He makes his debut in our rankings here at #96 overall in the Class of 2027.

Eye popping athleticism from the 6’2” Junior guard that had me walk away most impressed with his upside. Fluid athlete at the guard spot that can play on or off the ball. Shifty handle gets him to his spot where he confidently can rise up over defenders or finish at the rim in a variety of different ways. High IQ off the ball that knows when to cut. Numerous times he back cut for a bucket finishing above the rim. Just returned from a broken wrist so still gaining full confidence back, but shot the ball extremely well at the workout. Has a chance to be special on both ends of the floor with his athleticism.

Prep Hoops Indiana went over to watch Center Grove High School workout a few weeks ago and this sophomore guard stood out with his shot-creation and shot-making ability. He was also very good at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. The Trojans are reloading this season bringing up a JV group that went undefeated a year ago. Laney, a 6’2″ guard, is one that could really blossom as the season goes on as a go-to scorer.

Center Grove High School got hit hard by graduation from a team that won a lot of games last season. However, Coach Hahn’s group is reloading with some very talented pieces in the younger classes. Laney was one who stood out at our Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. The 6’2″ guard has good perimeter size with a strong, athletic build. Skill wise he proved to be a very effective jump shooter who could create his own shot. Intriguing prospect to keep an eye on.
