Arguably the most athletic player at camp showed how dominant he can be when he puts his all his physical tools together. Zavier Laney Zavier Laney 6'4" | SG/PG Center Grove | 2027 State IN out of Center Grove is an aggressive downhill driver that finishes at the rim at a high level in crafty ways. Capable of being a primary ball initiator that is aggressive as a scorer but is a willing playmaker for others. Confident operating in the pick and roll with good court vision. Seems to think the game one play ahead on both ends. Really good on ball defender and rebounder at the guard spot that rips and runs off the defensive glass while being best in transition.

Uber Athletic guard that was putting pressure on the rim all camp long. Quick first step to get in the lane and plays well on balance and absorbs contact when finishing at the rim. Comfortable playing on or off the ball. Plays well in the pick and roll with intriguing court vision and playmaking ability. Love his versatility on the defensive end at 6’4” with his ability to guard multiple spots as well as be a big factor on the glass.

Uber athletic shooting guard that puts pressure on the rim as well as any guard that I’ve gotten to see this summer. Downhill driver that attacks the rim with aggression looking to dunk everything. Has nice wiggle to his game that allows him to get to his spots and can stop on a dime and rise up over defenders in the midrange. Versatile defender that plays the passing lanes looking to get out in transition while also being a big time rebounder from the guard position.

Marlin Academy (P32) 17u was in control for much of the game, but ended up needing a wild overtime period to pull out the victory. Laney was the star throughout showcasing his high-level athleticism from the wing. When he drives it he drives it with the idea of dunking on any defender in his way and he did just that a couple of times on Thursday evening. He is also a very good cutter and provides some matchup problems due to his positional size, strength, and athleticism. Laney, a rising senior from Center Grove, has been a major stock-riser this summer.

The lengthy 6’4” Senior guard put on an absolute show in the Trojans win over Princeton on the Carmel Main Floor at Charlie Hughes on Sunday. Effortless scorer that’s comfortable playing on and off the ball. Plays through contact well on drives and did a good job playing off two feet and utilizing shot fakes in the lane before scoring. Incredible athlete that made the gym erupt when he drove down the lane and dunked on basically the entire Princeton team. Fluid athlete that showed his impact on both ends of the floor throughout the game with active hands on the ball and rebounding his position.

Whether he was getting to the basket in transition, using his athleticism and size to attack closeout, or hitting a pull-up jump shot, Laney had it going offensively on Friday at the IBCA Top 100 Showcase. The rising senior at Center Grove High School has had a good spring overall and should continue to garner a good deal of small college interest. Very good player.

Every time Center Grove product Zavier Laney Zavier Laney 6'4" | SG/PG Center Grove | 2027 State IN steps on the floor, there is a chance he’s the most athletic player in the game. He’s a long and athletic guard that is capable of taking over games on both ends of the floor. Scores it well from all over but thrives in getting downhill looking to make a play above the rim. Really nice small college guard that plays with a high motor and high IQ from both guard spots.

The athletic combo guard out of Center Grove is a player that caught my attention in an open gym back in the fall, and seeing him play in person as well as multiple times on stream, Laney is a kid that I absolute love what I have seen out of him. He’s a blend of production and potential. Fluid athlete that impacts the game on both sides of the ball. Constantly in attack mode with his scoring ability from all over the floor. Capable three-point shooter while not forcing anything and taking what the defense gives him. Relentless when he’s getting down hill and has shown the ability to play above the room. Expect his stock to rise heading into his senior season.

On the Center Grove side vs Pike, it was a more balanced effort for the Trojans but the one guy that really stood out to me was their leading scorer, Zavier Laney Zavier Laney 6'4" | SG/PG Center Grove | 2027 State IN . The junior guard has a long frame to him but is ultra aggressive when he needs to be. He stated off the game with an ice reverse baseline layup then hit a big corner three to give Center Grove some momentum. If Laney is clicking on the floor, Trojans will always have a shot.
