6’11” big men don’t grow on trees. Butler’s size immediately makes him an intriguing prospect, but his continued development, both physically and skill wise, have turned him into a legitimate small college prospect. He has trimmed about 60 pounds off of his frame which has improved his mobility and is a good student as well which makes him attractive for higher academic places as well. George Washington High School is currently 9-9 going into this evening’s game against Class 3A #6 Guerin Catholic. Butler averages 8.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game.

While his lack of mobility really limits him, I thought he did an extremely good job of exploiting the mismatch and knowing when to get in the post-up position. Once posted up, he would either use his height to score over a defender or make good passes to the slashers. He impacted the game so much when he was on the floor especially on the defensive end because Bishop Chatard did not attack as much. Can’t teach Butler’s size and as long as he plays his hardest and impacts the areas where he can, he will always be a problem for any opposing team.

Anytime a 6’10” player walks through the door you are going to at least take a look. Butler has steadily improved over the years as his coordination catches up with his size. He can make an impact on the defensive end, finish around the basket, and rebounds his area. Worth taking a look at this spring and summer for All Area Basketball 2024.
