Howell came up to Washington for the Hardwood Invite each of the past two seasons and really flashed playmaking ability, along with the stones to hit some tough shots. He’s now playing with the Jones Academy and brought a versatile style of play to the floor this past weekend. He’s a strong kid that can defend inside and out, rebound well, and finish high at the rim while being able to go either direction equally well.
The transformation Cofie has made over the past two years has been remarkable. He is a budding star that can legitimately impact the game just about however you ask him to. At 6-foot-9 he defends the rim, jams home finishes, and can bully his way to the cup. However, his passing, dribbling, and shooting progressions, have all opened up the floor for him to score and playmake from all over. With all that being said, the thing that stood out most to me this weekend was watching the fight he played with – hustling for loose balls, forcing his way to rebounds, and getting up and the down the floor.
Steppe is a phenomenal shooter with exceptional size on the wings. His impact will largely come shooting the rock with his ability to get his feet set on the catch and release the ball quickly. However, he also has the size and strength to finish strong at the rim, run the floor as a punishing finisher, and go get rebounds at their peak.
Simmons is highlighted here again because of his versatility. He is so strong, rebounding the ball, fighting through reaches and swipes to the hoop, and mixing in the quickness to win the first step and get that leverage on defenders. He is more under the radar than the previous guys I mentioned, but he should be a big riser once the high school season is upon us.

Hurskin is another more under wraps talent that thrives off of hustle and activity. His tireless work rate shows up big on the glass, cleaning up misses on the offensive end, and ending defensive possessions with the ability to start the break going the other way. He is a super springy player with good strength getting to the hoop and has shown some flashes pulling up from the mid-range once defenders start cheating the drive.
