There are so many talented players and teams in this year’s event, we’ll be looking at some of the players to watch in each area the teams are coming from. Here’s a look at some of the players from the Florida and California schools.
You can watch the entire tournament here on the CBG Live Network.
Eric Dailey | 6’7” WF | IMG ’23
The Oklahoma State commit is one of the best prospects in post grad basketball, and when it comes to pro potential he may have the most. The 6’7” forward is built like a pro already with a strong upper body that allows him to clear out space to finish and rebound, he’s excellent in the midrange particularly when he can iso and he can create space and make shots with just a couple of dribbles and he gets to the line and scores it in bunches efficiently.
Bryce Lindsay | 6’3” CG | IMG ’23
The Texas A&M commit is one of the toughest guards to defend in post grad basketball, as he has an NBA style game with his in the gym range and ability to create off the bounce or off the ball. He is unconscious from deep whether it’s off the catch or off the bounce and he can go well beyond the NBA line, he has good shift off the bounce to get downhill and make plays for himself or others and he has great instincts on the defensive end too.
Eli Rice | 6’6” WF | IMG ’23
Another high major commit for IMG, Rice is the all-out kind of player that brings them together and is able to impact the game in a number of different ways. At 6’6” the Nebraska commit has a good frame and long arms and is able to guard some of the other team’s best players, he gets downhill aggressively and can finish through traffic or get to the line often, he can knock down shots when he’s left open and he’s a good rebounder as well.
Braylon Wheeler | 5’9” PG | IMG ’23
While Wheeler may not be the high level prospect some of these other are, but he’s essential to their success as he sets the tone for them and gets their talented scorers tons of easy looks. He’s a pit bull on the defensive end as he’s quick laterally and pressures the basketball to make ball handlers uncomfortable and force turnovers, he controls the tempo and makes great reads both in transition and in the half court, he shoots it efficiently and picks his spots to score and he makes winning plays on both ends of the floor.
Robert Davis | 6’5” WG | So Cal Academy ’23
The UMass commit is the heart and soul of this talented So Cal team, and he has the scoring ability to absolutely take over games and fill it up in a lot of different ways. He’s a big time shooter from deep who can step out and has in the gym range when he gets it going, he gets to spots in the midrange and can make tough shots and when he gets hot and gets it going he’s able to make unreal shots and put up huge numbers.
Carlin Davison | 6’6” PF | So Cal Academy ’23
Davison is the gritty go-getter of this squad, as the 6’6” forward is a two-way impact guy who is a walking mismatch who can do a little bit of everything to help his team win. The New Zealand native is a big time athlete who crashes the glass hard and can finish above the rim when he gets downhill, he can guard multiple positions and is a good rim protector when he comes help side and he can knock down shots when he’s left open and stretch the defense too.
Joe Chamma | 5’10” PG | So Cal Academy ’23
Chamma may not look the part at 5’10” and just a decent athlete, but he’s gone toe-to-toe with some of the best guards in the country and always seems to produce and make winning plays. He’s highly skilled and crafty as he’s able to make shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce, he runs the pick-and-roll extremely well and he makes great reads when he touches the paint and he has great feel and instincts on both ends of the floor.
