These players will look to continue to get better in all areas of their game and when given more opportunities can do some special things on the court. Here are five players that I feel will have breakout seasons next year for the 2026 class.
Derkack is a player that loves to play in the transition game and thrives in it. He is always looking to push the ball up ahead for his team for easy points. Derkack makes some sweet slick passes keeping the defense off-balanced every possession. He’s excellent at getting to the rim with all different kinds of moves including the euro-step he uses quite often. He can even hit the three-ball if he’s given the space. Look for Derkack to have a monster year next year with already impressive numbers in his freshman year.
Galasso has a quick release at the point guard position which allows him to get many contested three-point shots when given the opportunity. He has an excellent pull-up midrange game as well giving him complete control on the offensive end. His underrated handles which can surprise defenses are used for Galasso to get anything he wants once he gets in the midrange/ painted area. Galasso’s defensive ability is another strong suit of his to read any passing lane or pickpocket ball handlers.
Harris’s strong upper body and tall frame give him such an advantage against opposing teams, primarily on the offensive side of the ball. Harris uses both of those attributes to finish at the rim with ease because he can simply just shoot over them. The same can be said about his shooting game as contests will do very little to affect his shot due to him being taller and bigger than most defenders. He has a nice post-hook floater shot he likes to use on the baseline and will crash the glass at will giving his team more chances for points.
Rippey Jr. is a defensive-minded point guard that can guard multiple positions on the court. He takes pride in his defense and will do whatever it takes to stop the offense from ever getting into a rhythm. Rippey Jr. likes to play fast on the offensive side turning turnovers into quick easy points. He can finish through contact but will also hit the reverse layup to avoid that contact. Rippey Jr. even has a quick crossover stepback to pair that with his shooting ability giving him multiple ways to score depending on what the defense gives him.
Rosa is a do-it-everything type of player at the point guard position which gives his coach many different ways for how Rosa can be used for the ultimate flexibility of a team. He will hit and take the pull-up three-point shot with confidence even if it is on the fastbreak. Rosa Makes smart basketball plays to get his teammates involved while limiting his turnovers. He enjoys playing in transition and finishes at the rim with both hands strongly. I feel confident that Rosa will have a spectacular season next year.
