This past week there was so many exciting performances throughout Wisconsin high school basketball. Anyone would be hard pressed to single out just one player that would have shown out above the others. Below is a review or maybe a list of quick hitters, that point out a lot of what happened around the state,

John Kinzinger | 6'0" | PG | 2023 | De Pere

John and his Redbird teammates won two games to move to 21-0 this past week. In the first game, they clinched their conference title, which was behind his 19 points. In their second game, they had two-time state champion Pewaukee come to town. This time one of the state's top point guards had 17 points and was a solid reason for the win. With just a few games left to play, in his high school career, John Kinzinger is nearing 2000 points.

Nic Janowski | 6'3" | CG | 2024 | Pewaukee

Pewaukee had two games this week where Nic performed at a high level, but it was his second game's production that stood out. That game was the game on Saturday against top rated division one, De Pere. He seemed to not be able to miss in the first half scorching the opponent for 18 points. He finished with 32 for the night as the Pirates dropped a tough one by 7 points. One of the things that make Nic special is his confidence on the parameter where he just uses more moves than most to get his shot off.

[player_tooltip player_id='1145649' first='Cody' last='Schmitz'] | 6'4" | W | 2024 | G.E.T

Cody had an amazing week putting up his individual numbers; he had games of 42 and 35 points. His team unfortunately dropped both games. This prospect has improved over last year which I have reported before that I have noticed upticks in athleticism and foot work. He is one of the state's prospects to watch his development on.

A bit of a summer update with this prospect is that he will be playing on the Wisconsin Blizzard team that had great success last summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1144570' first='Ty' last='Fernholz'] | 6'1" | SG | 2024 | Stoughton

One of the best shooters for his class in the state, Ty just went off in a game this week. In a loss for Stoughton against Waunakee, Ty tried his hardest to move his club to victory. He scorched them for a total of 30 points, but what was remarkable was the 22 points in the second half of the ball game.

AJ Bender | 6'2" | W | 2025 | Lake Mills

AJ and his team remained in first place in the Capitol North conference. They seemed like they wanted to prove that they belong there all along. Playing against Poynette, they were powered by this prospect's 33 points to tally a 70-64 victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='1240337' first='Jake' last='Hansen'] | 6'1" | SG | 2025 | Wauwatosa West

After his team only score 16 first half points and found themselves down by 10 at the break, Jake came out on fire. He hit 5 3-pointers in the second frame to push his team towards victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='1089681' first='Cole' last='Hansen'] | 6'4" | SG | 2024 | Wauwatosa West

One of the many improvements with this prospect this year is in the area of free throw stripe. He is shooting over 80% and has not missed a shot in four games. He has gone ~31-35 from the line in the last 7 or 8 contests.

[player_tooltip player_id='1289032' first='Julian' last='Alvarez'] Robles | 6'0" | G | 2024 | Pius XL

Talk about hot! This kid was carrying a flame thrower. In a win against New Berlin Eisenhower this junior Pius guard went 9-13 from distance and posted 27 points for the evening.

Nathan Torres | 5-8 | G | 2026 | Nathan Hale - West Allis

Freshman of the week alert! This young 3-point sharpshooter went, by my count 7-10 from deep, to help him post a flaming 25 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='963147' first='Austin' last='Herro'] | 6'2" | G | 2023 | Whitnall

This prospect showed his versatility by posting a triple double. He jumped up in all three categories to post higher than season averages of 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1151841' first='Mason' last='Kleinsmith'] | 5'10" | G | 2023 | Madison LaFollette

Saving the best for last. Mason is probably the hottest player in the month of February in the entire state. His teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1028255' first='Arhman' last='Lewis'] has gone down with an injury, and it is Mason that is trying to put the team on his back. In an upset over Middleton, it was him that had the last 7 points of the game, in overtime to secure the victory. The next game he scores 23 in a big win over their rival of Madison East. At this point is where it gets interesting. The prospect went off for back-to-back 30-point scores in a victory over Madison West and a lost to Janesville Parker. The kid is getting done both from deep and then using crafty finishes, utilizing ball fakes, to the rack.
