It's always great to see some of the most talented players also become some of the most improved players, matching the natural ability with hard work and dedication to get the most out of their game. The guys on this list happen to be some of the top players in the 2A and have been on rapid ascents since the season started. Here are some of the most improved players from this season in the 2A.

[player_tooltip player_id='1450492' first='Ajayi' last='Simmons'] | Renton

I got to see Simmons match up against [player_tooltip player_id='1450484' first='Jacob' last='Cofie'] in a quick jamboree game to open the 2022-23 season and it was really impressive to see Simmons go right at the Eastside Catholic star. What's been equally impressive is Simmons' development since that matchup. Like Cofie, he's improved his jumpshot to the point where he opened Renton's district championship game against Enumclaw with four first half 3-pointers. At 6-foot-7, Simmons has the size to be a legit prospect and he's shown this season that he is starting to fill out his game and perhaps elevate himself even further up the 2024 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1450502' first='Harry' last='Davies'] | North Kitsap

The way Davies has evolved from last season is truly remarkable. He came on to average over 20 points per game this season and has forced his way into the discussion of best shooters in the state. He's got limitless range and his potential is starting to look pretty out there too. He's still a beast on defense but Davies has quickly become a big riser in the 2024 class and a guy who can hurt you inside and out.

[player_tooltip player_id='1450571' first='Ronnie' last='Toms'] | Foster

Toms tends to fly a little under the radar at Foster but the fiesty guard affects the game on both ends of the floor. He's shown his defensive acumen, acruing a defensive player of the year award last season in the KingCo 2A, but Toms took to improving his offensive game this season and led the Bulldogs in that department. He's gone from a good to an excellent outside shooter and is responsible for creating a lot of looks within their offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1450497' first='Braydon' last='Olson'] | Mark Morris

Olson and teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1270714' first='Kobe' last='Parlin'] were one of the few teammates in the state to each score over 20 points per game this season. Olson already showed some bursty scoring ability last season but took it to a whole other level this year, exploding for some big games. The junior guard reached one thousand career points this season, broke the school record for 3PM in a game (9), and even dropped 40 points in a game against Woodland. Needless to say, his arrow is pointing up as the Monarchs head into the 2A state tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612189' first='Champ' last='Powaukee'] | Pullman

Powaukee is a guy that I don't think gets the acclaim he deserves. It could be because he plays on such a well-rounded team, or because he plays way out in Pullman, but Powaukee has all the qualities you want in a skilled wing player. He is long (6-foot-4), athletic, can shoot the three, and makes plays defensively. The biggest improvements to his game have been his scoring and playmaking. He's so smooth from 3-point now, can hit from all three levels, and has the instincts to make big plays defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1417280' first='Grey' last='Garrison'] | Sehome

The 6-foot-7 forward is a big reason Sehome garnered so much preseason talk as a 2A title contender. The big man has the rare skill set that allows him to defend the rim and stretch the floor. He's on this list because he has really improved on his efficiency from the field, looks stronger on both ends of the floor, and is nearing the point of being a knock down shooter. Garrison has done a great deal to improve his game and his outlook for the next level with his growth this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1485542' first='Davis' last='Fogle'] | Anacortes

It's not hard to spot the talent Fogle has but I'd be lying if I said his season hasn't surprised me a little. The 6-foot-5 guard has absolutely taken off this season and become one of the top players and scorers in the 2A. He has Anacortes as the second overall seed in the 2A state tournament and looks like one of the more unstoppable players in the state. He's been able to get to the rim and work inside with the dribbel for quite a while now, but his improvements with his outside have really been a game changer and allowed him to be a threat from just about anywhere inside of half court.
