When your play earns you a tile name like “The Hutch Ward Hutch Ward 6’8″ | PF Kalamazoo Central | 2023 State MI Explosion” and “The Hutch Ward Hutch Ward 6’8″ | PF Kalamazoo Central | 2023 State MI Explosion: Part 2″, you have to be playing really good basketball. In what seemed like no time, Ward went from a streaky shooter and floor stretcher to a rocket launcher of a sniper and a ferocious finisher. His clib in 2022 was miraculous.

Habhab really broke out with his play with Coach Baiz and the Michigan Warriors. In all honesty, his game reminds me a lot of Ward above. He’s a long 4 that can heat up from behind the arc and stretch the floor. Habhab can also finish with flare above the rim. He has the potential to be a top notch rim protector as well.
Szamrej is aa great example of how grassroots season can put a player in the light that he deserves. He was absolutely terrific with the West Michigan Future squad. Szamrej can play on or off the ball, but man do I like the way he’s developed as a floor stretching lead guard. Szamrej can not just light it up from deep, but he makes excelent decisions with the basketball.

I was very impressed with Sulaka’s development over the last year. He was always a defensive presence but his game really expanded. His offensive footwork improved, which helped him gain skill and confidence on that end of the floor. Sulaka is now a 2 way post player that can make an impact at the next level.
Alderink really put his game together in 2022. He put together his strength, power and athleticism into one nasty package. Alderink has secured himself as one of the most talented post players in the state regardless of class. He expanded his scoring options which really helped his game take off.

Karel showed me the growth of his game at the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250. You could really see at that event that he was working on his game and not just resting on what was already there. Karel showed that he had a rapidly developing perimeter game. Continued development in 2023 that’s similar to what we saw in 2022, would be dangerous.

Walker has been lighting it up this season, including a game in which he broke the school mark for points in a game. Walker is a forward with good versatility and athleticism. Obviously, he’s been a spark plug offensively, but this fall his defense is what caught my eye. At the Top 250, Walker made hustle plays on D and picked up tough stops against high quality players.

Cabana’s rise really started in the fall of 2021, but he still has to be on this list. He’s one of the better pure athletes that I’ve seen. He’s meshed his ability to run fast and jump high with his mental game and his basketball IQ. I’ve been very high on Cabana as a player and prospect due to that mesh of talents. He’s the type of player that I refuse to put a cap on his potential.
