Michael Sulaka
About Michael
Expert Analysis
Scott Hankamp | Prep Hoops Scout
Sulaka has come as far as anyone in the last few years. He’s always been an elite defensive talent, which he still is. Sulaka plays vertical defense and protects the rim by challenging and blocking shots. His offensive game has developed nicely. Sulaka is now a 2 way player that has a couple legit post moves with his back to the basket. He’s also gotten stronger, allowing him to go up with strength on put back opportunities. Sulaka will be playing at Western Michigan next season.

I was very impressed with Sulaka’s development over the last year. He was always a defensive presence but his game really expanded. His offensive footwork improved, which helped him gain skill and confidence on that end of the floor. Sulaka is now a 2 way post player that can make an impact at the next level.

Sulaka is easily one of the top post players in the state. It doesn’t seem like long ago that he was a defensive force that got some put back buckets. Not anymore. Sulaka’s offensive game has really blossomed.

Sulaka has really polished his game over the last calendar year, which included a state title last high school season. He has committed to Western Michigan University and should be a great fit with Coach Stephens and a currently Michigan dominated roster (there 9 players from the state currently on the roster). Sulaka is a premier defensive force that has a nose for the ball and when a shot goes up. Opposing guards have to be very wary of him when they drive the lane.
